Provides after-school educational tutoring and enrichment programming for residents of six low- and mixed-income housing communities in Seattle. The program includes reading, academic skill building and homework help in structured one-to-one tutoring sessions. Tutoring centers are staffed by education professionals and volunteers. Tutoring is available onsite for students who need academic assistance and are living in one of the six participating housing communities. Call for more specific site location information.

Provides an after-school program for East African refugee and immigrant students living in the Greater Seattle area. We have volunteers who can help K-12 students with math, science, English, social studies and science. Students without homework can read and play learning enrichment games with trained tutors. You can get Homework Help most days during the school year, except on weekends and school holidays. No reservations are needed just come to the Library during Homework Help hours and bring your homework assignment and textbook. If our volunteers do not know an answer, they will help you find it. Do not worry if you do not have all the supplies you need. We have many things available that you can use, like graphing calculators, markers, paper, pencils, and a laptop. Provides free online tutoring and college counseling to low-income high school students across the United States. Assigns students to a volunteer academic coach with expertise in the area where they need help. Subjects covered include Math, Science, Reading & Writing, Social Studies, College Counseling, and Standardized Testing. Assists with issues such as - Finishing a hard homework assignment - Preparing for a quiz, mid-term, or final exam - Reviewing items missed on a quiz - Understanding difficult concepts … or didn’t want to ask in front of everyone during class! - Understanding the process of college planning and applications - Preparing for SAT exams

The After School Program provides year-round enriching activities designed to support youth in their academic, social-emotional, and life skills development. Offers a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where students can thrive academically through personalized homework assistance, targeted literacy development, diverse enrichment activities, and access to technology. Beyond academics, the program promotes social-emotional well-being and life skills through a variety of recreational indoor and outdoor activities, including amateur sports teams such as basketball, flag football, and soccer. These team-based sports provide opportunities for youth to build teamwork, leadership, and resilience while staying active and engaged. Additionally, field trips and enrichment groups further support personal growth and foster a sense of community and belonging. During the summer, the Summer Splash program combats the "summer slide" by reinforcing literacy and math skills to help students maintain and improve their academic performance. Also partners with the Kent School District to provide free summer lunches for youth under 18 at all three program locations. The program operates at three King County Housing Authority sites on the East Hill of Kent: Birch Creek Apartments, Valli Kee Homes, and Cascade Apartments. Each community recreation center features computer labs, activity rooms, teen spaces, and a variety of recreational and educational programming to create a well-rounded experience. Students also receive healthy snacks to stay energized and focused. The program focuses on key life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and resilience, while fostering both soft and durable skills. With the guidance of positive adult role models, youth are empowered to overcome challenges, build confidence, and succeed academically and personally.

Provides after-school programs for children in grades K-5 and full-time enrichment programs during school breaks. Programs include academic enrichment, homework assistance, nutritious snacks, outdoor play and other activities geared toward students' social-emotional and academic skills. Facilitates a program that recruits, trains, and supports qualified tutors who are matched with refugee youth who need tailored academic support, specifically in mathematics, science, and reading. In-Home Tutors meet with their students in the student's home weekly for two-hour sessions of individualized instruction. Newly arrived refugee youth can receive tutoring services in a convenient and effective way that offers on-going support throughout the academic year.    The In-Home Tutoring program's long term goal is to improve the wellbeing and success of K-12 English language learners attending Seattle Public Schools through improved academic achievement, increased participation in academic behaviors, and increased parent involvement in students' education.

Works in partnership with Kent Meridian and Rainier Beach High Schools to offer year-long after-school academic programs to all newly arrived refugee youth in high school. Classroom Assistants and students meet weekly to complete homework assignments, tackle the senior research project, and complete important college application paperwork, such as the FAFSA. Time is divided into classroom instruction, individual and group work, mentorship, educational workshops, and access to scholastic resources.   Both sites feature Classroom Assistants who focus on assisting students as they participate in academic activities to improve their reading and writing skills and increase their knowledge of college and career readiness. The program strives to provide the information, resources, and access to opportunities to meet and exceed grade level standards, while completing high school graduation and college application milestones in order to graduate on time and with plans to pursue post-secondary education. Also provides opportunities for students to participate in civic and community engagement projects to build their leadership skills as well as to complete service learning requirements for graduation.

Youth Programs provide a wide variety of services to low-income in-school (ages 14-21) and out-of-school (ages 16-24) youth to help them succeed in school and work. Program participants may receive a range of services from the following areas: occupational skills training; career counseling; internships; job placements; mentoring; tutoring; leadership development; financial literacy; entrepreneurial skills training; local labor market and employment information services; postsecondary education and training transition support; workforce preparation and training activities designed for specific career clusters; and additional supportive services.

Provides a supervised programs for students in K-8th that offer the opportunity to complete daily homework assignments, as well as participate is social and recreational activities. Includes the STEAM program, which gives students a safe and fun space to socialize and develops life skills on- and off-site. STEAM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Provides after school and summer learning programs, providing academic, enrichment and social skills activities together with programs to increase family engagement.

Provides academic support for Somali and Spanish speaking families and their elementary students at Kimball Elementary and Maple Elementary School. Twice a week, students receive academic support and literacy instruction from trained professionals and skilled volunteers.  Families of the students work with culturally-specific case managers to learn about the American school system and best practices for supporting their students.

The focus is to inspire, relate, enrich, and bring adults and students together in a community partnership, which can create a lasting beneficial effect on the lives of young people. - Mentors and students meet once or twice each month for 3-4 hours total - Mentoring is about dedication, so a yearlong commitment is required - Mentors will meet with their students to share hobbies, recreational activities, and perhaps a glimpse of the mentor's work environment - Goal setting, life skill development, encouragement and guidance should be at the heart of each mentoring relationship
