Enhances the skills and knowledge young people learn at school through high-yield learning activities. Delivers innovative and inspiring programs focused on BGCB's three outcome areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship.

Coordinates weekly activities for area youth.   - Youth Council meets monthly to discuss community awareness projects. - Study Zone is an after-school homework help and study center that meets twice per week where students can access computers and a printer. - Offers teen trips during the school year and during the summer.   - Coordinates DateWise, a program dedicated to promoting healthy relationships and dating violence awareness.

Works in partnership with Kent Meridian and Rainier Beach High Schools to offer year-long after-school academic programs to all newly arrived refugee youth in high school. Classroom Assistants and students meet weekly to complete homework assignments, tackle the senior research project, and complete important college application paperwork, such as the FAFSA. Time is divided into classroom instruction, individual and group work, mentorship, educational workshops, and access to scholastic resources.   Both sites feature Classroom Assistants who focus on assisting students as they participate in academic activities to improve their reading and writing skills and increase their knowledge of college and career readiness. The program strives to provide the information, resources, and access to opportunities to meet and exceed grade level standards, while completing high school graduation and college application milestones in order to graduate on time and with plans to pursue post-secondary education. Also provides opportunities for students to participate in civic and community engagement projects to build their leadership skills as well as to complete service learning requirements for graduation.

Coordinates a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.   Recruits students annually and conducts annual Academic Olympic competitions for students in 9th-12th grades in NAACP Branches throughout the country.   First place local winners then compete with youth from other cities at the National ACT-SO finals held during our National Convention. Includes 26 categories of competition such as sciences, arts and humanities.

Provides a supervised programs for students in K-8th that offer the opportunity to complete daily homework assignments, as well as participate is social and recreational activities. Includes the STEAM program, which gives students a safe and fun space to socialize and develops life skills on- and off-site. STEAM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Offers an after-school program for Bellevue-area students. Activities include homework help, free play in the gymnasium and computer lab time. Free bus services will pick up students from the following elementary schools:- Sherwood Forest- Puesta del Sol- Lake Hill- Stevenson Offers two-week day camps in the summer.

Provides site-based literacy, academic support and family advocacy for three Highline-area apartment complexes operated by King County Housing Authority.   Services include Kaleidoscope Play and Learn groups, after-school programming and summer programming.

We offer a diverse schedule of in-school and after-school programming designed to support the social and emotional development of our young participants, as well as their educational growth. From academic support to programming that strengthens positive identity and awareness, our programs help our youth reach their full potential. After-School is held throughout the school year.

Provides a school-age childcare program for students enrolled at the John Stanford International School.  Activities include supervised play, homework completion time, cooking, arts and crafts projects, group games, science activities, snacks, and other continuing projects.

Youth Programs provide a wide variety of services to low-income in-school (ages 14-21) and out-of-school (ages 16-24) youth to help them succeed in school and work. Program participants may receive a range of services from the following areas: occupational skills training; career counseling; internships; job placements; mentoring; tutoring; leadership development; financial literacy; entrepreneurial skills training; local labor market and employment information services; postsecondary education and training transition support; workforce preparation and training activities designed for specific career clusters; and additional supportive services.

Offers volunteer opportunities assisting students in grades K through 3rd with one-on-one reading at Kennewick Elementary Schools. Tutoring will be two times a week for 30 minutes and will get to follow along with one child through the year.

Offers two evening programs per week - Music and scouting-type program for boys and girls ages 6-16 and a Youth Group for Middle School - High School students. Music and scouting program is every Wednesday. Teen night youth group is every other Friday.

If you are working on a tough homework assignment or have questions about a lesson, come to the Library for Homework Help. We have volunteers who can help K-12 students with math, science, English, social studies and science. Students without homework can read and play learning enrichment games with trained tutors. You can get Homework Help most days during the school year, except on weekends and school holidays. No reservations are needed just come to the Library during Homework Help hours and bring your homework assignment and textbook. If our volunteers do not know an answer, they will help you find it. Do not worry if you do not have all the supplies you need. We have many things available that you can use, like graphing calculators, markers, paper, pencils, and a laptop. The After School Program provides year-round enriching activities designed to support youth in their academic, social-emotional, and life skills development. Offers a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where students can thrive academically through personalized homework assistance, targeted literacy development, diverse enrichment activities, and access to technology. Beyond academics, the program promotes social-emotional well-being and life skills through a variety of recreational indoor and outdoor activities, including amateur sports teams such as basketball, flag football, and soccer. These team-based sports provide opportunities for youth to build teamwork, leadership, and resilience while staying active and engaged. Additionally, field trips and enrichment groups further support personal growth and foster a sense of community and belonging. During the summer, the Summer Splash program combats the "summer slide" by reinforcing literacy and math skills to help students maintain and improve their academic performance. Also partners with the Kent School District to provide free summer lunches for youth under 18 at all three program locations. The program operates at three King County Housing Authority sites on the East Hill of Kent: Birch Creek Apartments, Valli Kee Homes, and Cascade Apartments. Each community recreation center features computer labs, activity rooms, teen spaces, and a variety of recreational and educational programming to create a well-rounded experience. Students also receive healthy snacks to stay energized and focused. The program focuses on key life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and resilience, while fostering both soft and durable skills. With the guidance of positive adult role models, youth are empowered to overcome challenges, build confidence, and succeed academically and personally.
