MS Focus offered at Multiple Sclerosis Foundation

Provides a wide array of services for those living with multiple sclerosis (MS), including grants for emergency financial assistance, homecare services, assistive technology, laptop computers, cooling accessories, and medical appointment transportation.

Mutual support groups whose members are people who have a disability, illness or other health condition, their families and friends. The groups meet in-person, by telephone or via the Internet; and provide an opportunity for participants to share information, resources, practical tips for daily living and encouragement about issues related to the disability or health problem.

Health/Disability Related Support Groups

Programs that maintain information about community resources that are appropriate for a specific target group or human services sector (for example, youth programs or addiction services) and which link individuals who are in need of specialized services with appropriate resources and/or which provide information about community agencies and organizations that offer specialized services.

Specialized Information and Referral

Programs that pay for or provide personal computers, computer software and/or necessary peripherals.

Computer Distribution Programs

Programs that provide maintenance and repair services for cognitive/learning aids, control and signaling aids, daily living aids, hearing augmentation aids, mobility aids, prosthetic/orthotic/seating devices, recreational aids, speech aids, visual/reading aids or other assistive aids.

Assistive Technology Equipment Repair

Libraries that arrange for the delivery by mail or volunteer messenger of books and/or audiovisual materials to people who, because of an illness, injury or disability, are unable to leave their homes to select their own reading and/or listening material in person.

Home Library Services

Programs that provide transportation for medical appointments, trips from and between hospitals, to nursing homes or other special-care centers or for other non-emergency medical needs for individuals who, because of financial problems or their physical condition, are unable to use other means of local transportation. NEMT service providers are able to transport riders who require a wheelchair lift equipped vehicle with appropriate protective restraints or a van that is designed for gurney/stretcher transportation, or has other types of features to meet their safety needs.

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

Programs that provide cash, vouchers or other forms of monetary aid for people in need of assistance and evaluate the individual's or family's need for the money on a case-by-case basis rather than having pre-established policies regarding the types of needs the dollars can be used to cover.
