Provides a way for working Washington residents to earn access to long-term care benefits that will be available to eligible individuals when they need them. All working Washingtonians contribute a small percentage of their income into the fund. Later, when they need care, they can access their earned benefit of $36,500 (adjusted up to inflation) to pay for services.

Long-Term Care Benefits offered by WA Cares Fund

Provides Washington residents with access to long-term care benefits they can use when needed, helping to pay for care in the home or a residential setting.

Private insurance companies, government programs and public/private partnership programs that issue individual and group insurance plans or policies which pay for nursing facility care, home health care, adult day health care, respite care, hospice care and/or home modifications to eliminate barriers for people who are chronically ill. Long-term care policies cover all levels of care including skilled, intermediate and custodial. Benefits may be triggered when an individual's doctor orders care, when s/he has some cognitive impairment or if s/he is unable to perform certain activities of daily living independently such as bathing, dressing, eating and toileting. A limited number of states participate in public/private partnerships which have provisions to protect participants from becoming impoverished in order to become eligible for Medicaid long-term care benefits.

Insurance Discounts offered by AARP Washington

Organizations that offer insurance policies which pay for some health care costs that are not covered by Medicare. These generally include Medicare deductibles and co-payments, but not long-term care.

Medicare Insurance Supplements

Programs that issue insurance policies to homeowners and renters to protect them from loss of property due to theft, destruction or the inability to meet mortgage obligations. Also included are programs that help people obtain a home insurance policy.

Home Insurance

Private Prescription Drug Plans that are approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to offer prescription drug coverage for Medicare beneficiaries and accept applications for enrollment. Beneficiaries may also select a plan using the online enrollment application available on the CMS website. The application provides a tool for comparing different plans which vary in costs and specific drugs covered.

Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan Enrollment

Organizations that offer insurance that individuals or employers can purchase for themselves and/or their employees which provides coverage for eye care.  Plan features and benefits vary depending on the provider, but generally include discounts for eye examinations, surgical procedures, frames, lenses, contact lenses and non-prescription sunglasses.

Vision Insurance

Organizations that issue insurance policies which reimburse policy holders for all or a portion of the costs associated with diagnostic and preventive dental care, restorative work, oral surgery, crowns, inlays, dentures and other dental work.

Dental Insurance

Organizations that issue insurance policies which indemnify the holder against loss or damage to a motor vehicle caused by fire, windstorm, collision or other insurable hazards, and against legal liability for personal injuries or damage to property resulting from operation of the vehicle. Automobile insurance requirements are established at the state level and vary in terms of the type and level of coverage that may be necessary.
