Programs that pay for or provide equipment that has been especially designed or adapted to assist people who have physical disabilities to bathe, shave, dress, brush their teeth, comb their hair, prepare their meals, eat, drink, clean their homes and perform other daily tasks.

Daily Living Aids

Programs that pay for or provide male and female portable urinals, bed pans, potty seats, commodes, commode chairs, toilet safety frames, wide access toilet seats, elevated toilet seats or other toileting aids for people who are unable to leave their beds to use the bathroom or who require adaptations to use the bathroom toilet.

Toileting Aids

Programs that provide special chairs with large wheels, some of which are power driven, that are used to transport patients or to provide increased mobility for people who are partially paralyzed or otherwise unable to walk. Also included are other types of personal wheeled transportation such as the Amigo.

Wheelchairs/Wheeled Mobility

Programs that provide stools, benches, chairs and other seating equipment that allow people who have difficulty standing to sit while taking a shower or a bath. Included are portable devices that can be moved into and out of a shower stall or bathtub and folding seats that can be affixed to a shower wall.

Shower/Bath Seats

Programs that pay for, loan, or otherwise provide access to aids such as canes, gait trainers, single or double crutches, or walkers for people who need a means of support while walking in order to be fully mobile.

Walking Aids

Programs that collect medical equipment and supplies (such as sickroom equipment, hospital beds, monitoring devices, resuscitation equipment, respiratory aids, incontinence supplies and first aid kits) as they become available and distribute whatever they have on hand to people who need them. Because acquisition of these materials is intermittent, it is difficult to specify exactly which items may be available at any given time.

Occasional Medical Equipment/Supplies

Programs that accept first aid kits, bandages and other medical dressing, ostomy supplies, incontinence supplies, compression hosiery, hernia supports, bed pans and other medical supplies and keep them for use in their own program or donate them to other community-based organizations for their own use or for distribution to the people they serve. Also included are programs that are accepting COVID-19 related supplies including hand sanitizer, disposable gloves, face masks, face shields and personal protective equipment (PPE) for health care workers.

Multipurpose centers that serve as focal points for older adults in the community and which offer, at a single location, a wide variety of services and activities that are needed by and of interest to this population.

Senior Centers

The Camano Center maintains a lending closet of durable medical equipment like wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, commodes, toilet risers, bath benches, shower seats, and more. Items are available to borrow for as long as needed, dependent on availability.

Programs that accept canes, crutches, walkers and other walking aids, refurbish them if necessary, and keep them for use in their own program or donate them to other community-based organizations for their own use or for distribution to the people they serve.

Programs that maintain a comprehensive collection of medical equipment and supplies for use in the home and make it available to people who need it, generally on a rental purchase basis.

General Medical Equipment/Supplies Provision

Programs that accept powered or manual wheelchairs, refurbish them if necessary, and keep them for use in their own program or donate them to other community-based organizations for their own use or for distribution to the people they serve.

Wheelchair Donation Programs

Offers to loan wheelchairs, canes, bedside commodes, walkers and other assisted equipment on a temporary basis. Equipment donations are also welcome.

Provides new and used medical equipment at a reduced price. Specializes in mobility and bathroom needs; wheelchairs, scooters, power wheelchairs, wheelchair lifts, lift recliners, hospital beds, grab bars, toilet risers and bath benches.

Programs that pay for or provide adjustable beds that that are required by people who are unable to leave their beds on a temporary or long-term basis. Included are programs that loan hospital beds and those that provide beds that people can keep.

Hospital Beds

Programs that pay for or provide battery-powered, three or four-wheeled vehicles designed for individuals who have difficulty walking. Included are scooters for indoor use, scooters for outdoor use, and indoor-outdoor scooters for use in both places.

Electric Scooters

Programs that pay for or provide the labor and/or equipment to adapt vehicles owned by people with disabilities allowing them to operate the vehicles or ride in them as passengers. Adaptations can include ramps or wheelchair lifts; primary systems such as modified seats or steering, signaling, gear shift and braking controls; and/or secondary systems such as car door openers, car door reachers, gas cap openers, seating restraints, especially designed rear view mirrors and other accessories.
