Retail and Customer Service Training Program offered at Evergreen Goodwill's Job Training Center in Mount Vernon
Offers a combination of classroom and on-the-job training designed to help participants gain employment in the retail sector.
Gives participants the specific skills and training to find a job and keep a job in the retail sector. Participants spend nine weeks in class learning customer service, merchandising, cashiering, basic computer skills and general work readiness for the retail environment. Hands-on practice, including two weeks of on-the-job training at a Goodwill store, is included in the program.
Students can earn stipends based upon satisfactory completion of program requirements.

Native Workforce Services Program at United Indians of All Tribes Foundation
Offers a variety of employment and training services to WIA-eligible and enrolled American Indians, and Alaskan and Hawaiian Natives.
Supports comprehensive employment and training activities while helping clients get the trainings and certifications needed to build a sustainable career, including:
-Job counseling
-Academic counseling and assistance
-Referrals and placement
-Support with applications to government benefit programs, such as unemployment and SNAP
-Employment-related training
Training/Education Incentive: Individuals entering an accredited college or vocational school program may be eligible for tuition assistance. Proof of registration and paid fees will be required.
Referrals: Staff may provide referrals to apprenticeship programs and help clients with job searches.
Support Services: Upon completing the Workforce Readiness class and finding employment, clients may be eligible for supportive services at the discretion of the Director of the Employment and Training Department. These services may include:
- Transportation allowance
- Food allowance
- Shoes
- Work clothing (if required by employer) -
Other reasonable job-related expenses
Summer Youth Employment Experience: Limited number of work experience positions are available during the summer months to eligible high school students. Interested parties should contact the WIA office in January for more information.

YouthBuild offered by YouthCare at South Seattle College's Georgetown Campus
Offers a six-month job training pre-apprentice program for low-income youth ages 18-24. Includes GED completion or high school diploma. Students receive nine months of follow-up from their case manager upon program completion. Pays a weekly stipend.
Operates a six-month job training pre-apprentice program for youth. Offers GED/HSD (High School Diploma) completion, case management support, job readiness training and pre-apprenticeship training. Youth work on a two-week rotating schedule; one week participating in GED/HSD completion and job readiness training, and the other week learning construction skills in the shop. After students graduate they receive nine months of follow-up from their case manager to continue to help support them in achieving their goals, including placement in apprenticeship programs in the trades.
Pays a weekly stipend.

Provides evaluation and employment planning services to help disabled adults define what type of jobs are available and whether that job is a right fit.
Employment planning services are designed to assist individuals in determining their vocational goals. Using a person-centered approach, participants learn about employment opportunities within the community and are then able to make informed choices about their employment future. These services are designed to assist individuals in choosing employment outcomes and career development options that are based on his or her preferences, strengths, abilities and needs. Our services offer a variety of activities including job tryouts, job tours, job shadowing, labor market analysis, community-based assessments, and possibilities for volunteering in the community. Morningside's evaluation and employment planning services are a way to help you define what type of job you want and whether that job is right for you. Services in this area help identify your interests, abilities and needs that will be important to you as you set your goals. We will also provide you with the opportunity to explore work options by trying one or more jobs that might interest you. Working with you and your vocational counselor, we will develop a plan and you decide how many jobs you want to try. Most participants try one to three jobs. Job tryouts usually last two to four weeks.
