Offers trained navigators who work one-on-one with Pierce County residents who are seeking living wage jobs or college education and are unsure of where to begin. Helps residents determine which employment service or education path will best meet their employment goals, and directly connects callers to education and employment organizations. Also helps WorkForce clients access transportation programs, benefits programs, or other services that help remove barriers to employment or education. Service is provided until the client has connected with the best employment or education program, and barriers to employment have been removed.

Assists job seekers with job search and referral information.  Allows computer access to the automated job search system, has information on community resources, and has a Career Development center resource room.

Provides housing stabilization assistance for single-parent families and pregnant women who are in imminent danger of becoming homeless and who live in Maple Valley and cities within a nine-mile radius.   Provides the following services as the family grows to stability:   -  Rent assistance -  Housing case management -  Employment services -  Financial budgeting -  Life skills classes -  Child and youth case management -  Counseling

The Bridgeways Employment Services staff work with adults living with mental illness who are seeking employment in the community.  The program provides job-related services and supports taking each person’s strengths, abilities, talents, experiences, and preferences into account.

SPIPA Workforce Development Program offers support services, and case management with a focus on education and career development in Kitsap and Pierce counties.

Teaches life skills such as personal and professional development in self care, problem solving, communication, and employment realities.

Offers residential and nonresidential job training and employment with a focus on conservation. Programs include local community crews, an internship program for college aged participants, a fully accredited alternative high school, and a two-acre organic farm. A stipend and potential high school credit can be earned while working on reforestation and recreation projects. Transportation available.

Basic Food Employment & Training (BFET) provides training and education with a goal of assisting Basic Food clients to attaining a living wage career.  BFET services are available from all WA State community and technical colleges as well as many non-college community based organization (CBO) contractors (Opportunity Council is one of these).   Most clients who receive federally funded Basic Food (SNAP) and are at least 16 years old can receive BFET services. Even clients with college education may benefit from retraining or job search services.

Provides one-on-one financial coaching and mentoring. Services include customized financial guidance on budgeting, credit management, banking, financial goal setting, resume writing, job searching, and assistance applying for jobs. Services are available in person or virtual.

Provides a variety of classes open to the public and offered at no charge. A current schedule of workshops, job fairs, hiring events, and other activities is available online.  Customized training programs may be developed for individual employers or industries upon request.

Offers a 5-week program providing assistance with job readiness, job search, work training and labor market information through workshops, computer resources and case management. Program participants may also get assistance with obtaining work-appropriate clothing. Workshops and case management offer the following services to all students enrolled: - Mentorship Life Skills & Training - Earn Certifications (Industrial First Aid/CPR, Flaggers, Food Handler Permit) - Financial Empowerment - Resume & Cover Letter Assistance - Job Connections - Wrap-Around Services Job announcements provided are current postings from private industry, city, county and state employers.

Assist job seekers in obtaining employment and matching employers with qualified workers. Offer screening, recruiting, and job placement services, including those for veterans and youth. On site hiring events. A full range of workshops and training and career development services is available.  Employment Services:   Find job openings, learn strategies for finding a job, get job referrals and job search assistance, learn how to prepare your résumé and for job interviews, post your résumé online for employers to see, share job-search strategies with other job seekers (Networking group).    Assess your skills and get career guidance, referrals to training programs, learn how much jobs pay and what jobs are in demand.  On-Site Resources:   Computers with Internet access and WiFi, telephones, fax and copy machines.   Training Programs: Programs for adults, youth and laid off workers, dislocated workers, TANF Recipients (WorkFirst), and older workers.   

Sound Works Job Center assists clients in finding local permanent or temporary employment, as well as providing nationwide employment searches. They offer over 1,000 city, county, private businesses and Naval Base civilian job listings. They also provide one-on-one professional resume writing assistance including the navy Civil Service USAJOBS.GOV resumes. Other services include free Washington State typing speed certifications, interview training and background checks. Again, all services are one-on-one and “free” to both the employer and employee. We Specialize in assisting Veterans in their job search.

A community hub where individuals and parents with children can attend programs and workshops, access community resources, connect with others, and receive information and referrals. Services vary by location but may include use of the phone, use of the fax, access to applications for subsidized apartments, and use of the computer work stations. Clients are not able to use the resource center as a mailing address.

Provides skills training to empower people to live independently in the community.   Services may include: -  Information and referral -  Independent living skills training -  Peer support -  Finding and retaining housing -  How to apply for Social Security, DSHS or WA Apple Health (Medicaid)/Medicare -  Assistance with employment including help creating a resume, job search assistance and job preparation services. All work is focused around the individual consumer's personal goals.

Focus is on making sure Navy Service Members have the knowledge they need to ensure a smooth transition from their military career to a civilian career.

Assists family members of active duty, retirees and separatees in their job search.  FERP provides current job listings for city, state, federal, and private sector positions; job referrals, etc.  One-on-one counseling is available. Workshops in job search, resume review, and interview techniques are also featured.

Provides counseling, resources, employment connections, community partnership advocacy and virtual tools to assist in meeting the veterans’ preferred transitional career goals. Gives veterans and their spouses priority access to WorkSource services, including the following: -  Job listings, job referrals and hiring events for private sector, city, state and Federal careers -  Job coaching for resume, application perfecting, strategies for success, wage negotiations and interviewing assistance -  Use of computers, photocopiers and phones onsite -  Skill assessments and referrals to training and other resources   In addition, the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program provides intensive case management and employment readiness services to transitioning service members, veterans and qualifying spouses with significant barriers to employment.   Local Veterans Employment Representatives Conduct outreach to employers to promote the recruitment and hiring of veterans; partner with Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Commerce to implement employer campaigns to hire veterans and inform federal contractors on process and requirements for recruitment of veterans.

Works with students to explore career options and develop a plan to achieve academic and professional goals. Career Planner Services assists students in discovering and clarifying career goals and linking them with educational and training programs.   Offers career assessments, as well as a variety of career-related workshops and individual appointments. Educational Planning Services provide academic and professional/technical advising.   The educational planning process helps students develop educational plans, interpret program requirements, choose a program of study, and/or plan for transfer to a four-year institution.

Voluntary program helps DSHS clients find and keep gainful employment. Navigators helps clients access education, employment and training services that are provided by workforce development partners. Navigators also stay in touch with participants for one year after becoming employed, assisting with any needs that may arise.

Assistance with resumes, cover letters and job applications.

Operates a drop-in center for young adults experiencing homelessness. Provides food, clothing, laundry, ADA-accessible showers and hygiene supplies as well as mail, phone services and computer usage. We provide some programming such as but not limited to, art programming, employment & education support, and access to Case Management.
