Administers the Jobs for Veteran State Grant program, a nationwide program designed to provide assistance to veterans transitioning from one career to another. Provides counseling, resources, employment connections, community partnership advocacy and virtual tools to assist in meeting the veterans’ preferred transitional career goals. Gives veterans and their spouses priority access to WorkSource services, including the following: -  Job listings, job referrals and hiring events for private sector, city, state and Federal careers -  Job coaching for resume, application perfecting, strategies for success, wage negotiations and interviewing assistance -  Use of computers, photocopiers and phones onsite -  Skill assessments and referrals to training and other resources   In addition, the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program provides intensive case management and employment readiness services to transitioning service members, veterans and qualifying spouses with significant barriers to employment.   Local Veterans Employment Representatives Conduct outreach to employers to promote the recruitment and hiring of veterans; partner with Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Commerce to implement employer campaigns to hire veterans and inform federal contractors on process and requirements for recruitment of veterans.

Individual supported employment services are designed for individuals who need intensive training and ongoing support to secure and maintain employment in the community.  Based on the vocational goals of the participant, our professional job developers seek out employment situations that meet the specific needs of the individual. In many cases, jobs can be discovered after an analysis indicates that certain tasks can be grouped together to establish a position that meets the particular skills and strengths of the participant. For example, a business may have an office environment in which employees must do their own copying. By setting up a position that enables copying to be accomplished for the entire office, an individual who might once have been seen as having limited skills can learn to perform the duties. This becomes a time-saver for the organization and enables other employees to be more efficient in their primary responsibilities a win-win situation for everyone.  After a position is secured, skilled job coaches set up a training plan for the new employee. The intensive training phase continues until the employee learns the job and is stable in his or her position.  Training is provided to co-workers to increase their ability to support the new employee. Comments about improvements in work place morale and a greater sense of teamwork among staff members are just some of the favorable remarks we’ve received from employers involved with the Individual Supported Employment program through Morningside.  Once the intensive training phase is completed, ongoing support is provided. Depending upon the specific needs of the employee, contact can vary from daily to bi-weekly until the success of the job and other work-related activities is insured.

Using a person-centered approach, participants learn about employment opportunities within the community and are then able to make informed choices about their employment future. These services are designed to assist individuals in choosing employment outcomes and career development options that are based on his or her preferences, strengths, abilities and needs. Our services offer a variety of activities including job try outs, job tours, job shadowing, labor market analysis, community-based assessments, and possibilities for volunteering in the community. Morningside's evaluation and employment planning services are a way to help define what type of job is wanted and whether that job is right for the client. Services in this area help identify interests, abilities and needs that will be important to client's goals. Also provides the opportunity to explore work options by trying one or more jobs that the client might interested. Working with client and their vocational counselor, to develop a plan and decide how many jobs to try.

The Easterseals Washington Workforce Development program helps adults achieve and maintain gainful, competitively paid, employment in their communities.   Participants in the program are paired with an employment consultant, if needed, to learn new skills or to supplement the employers training.   Easterseals Washington Workforce Development also works with people referred by the Division or Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) to help find competitively paid employment in the community.     For persons who are 62 years of age or older a Community Inclusion Program (CI) helps customers create and maintain relationships made in their communities.

WXP: The work experience program has been discontinued due to recent legislation impacting the funding of that particular program. Work training is still a service offering but it is through special conditions that it is offered. The Bridgeways Employment Services staff work with adults living with mental illness who are seeking employment in the community.  The program provides job-related services and supports taking each person’s strengths, abilities, talents, experiences, and preferences into account.

Helps adults with disabilities to create and maintain relationships in their communities through volunteer work, community groups, and other opportunities to be in integrated settings.
