Offers pre-employment and employment day programs for adults on the Eastside living with mental illness. Members work with staff to develop work skills, self-confidence and strengths. Also provides an extensive social program.
Offers support services for adults living with mental illness. Offers pre-employment day program where members work side-by-side with staff to develop work skills, self-confidence, strengths and talents. Technology and equipment is available for members to learn and work on. Provides a commercial kitchen where members prepare meals available to members and staff for a small fee.
Members can also apply for employment in the community through the programs of HERO House NW. There are three different programs of employment including:
-Transitional Employment Program (part-time, time-limited for members just entering or returning to paid employment; includes on-site support, training and coverage)
-Supported Employment Program (time unlimited, paid positions in the community with on-site supports and training provided by HERO House NW.
-Independent Employment Program (where members work in competitive positions independently of HERO House NW) and HERO House NW employment supports.
HERO House NW Programs also provides an extensive social program where members join together for picnics, bingo, museum tours, festivals, sports and games.

An employment specialist assesses their skills and identifies and builds additional employment skills. Assessments: An employment specialist works with the individual and their support team to determine what job will be the best match for the person and their skills. Job Development and Placement: For individuals who are certain about the work they want to pursue, our employment specialist will engage in marketing and recruitment activities to approach employers on behalf of the individual looking for employment. The goal is the job seeker gaining integrated employment in a position that matches with his/her skills and interests. Training and Retention: Assistance is provided to help participants maintain employment. The length of time needed will vary depending on the individual’s support needs and funding options. The new employee is supported to learn and accomplish the tasks of the job; communicate with co-workers; and become part of the fabric of that employer’s workforce.

Offers vocational rehabilitation services to qualified injured workers. Application must be obtained from hospital/doctor's office where treatment is first administered. Must be filed within one year from date of injury.
Helps workers injured on the job return to work.
Reimburses employers for some of their costs if they can provide temporary light-duty jobs for injured workers while they heal.
Provides a vocational counselor to help identify return to work options, including job modifications.
If no return-to-work options are appropriate, the counselor will help develop a vocational plan to train the worker for new work.
The vocational plan will include paid vocational training as well as time-loss compensation and medical benefits.
