Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program - SFMNP offered at the Lewis Mason Thurston Area Agency on Aging
Provides area seniors a way to purchase fresh, nutritious, locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey and fresh-cut herbs from authorized farmers markets and roadside stands. Receives nutrition education including recipes, nutrient values, food prep/storage info.
Provides seniors in Lewis, Mason and Thurston Counties the opportunity to purchase fresh, nutritious, unprepared, unprocessed, locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey and fresh-cut herbs from authorized farmers markets and roadside stands. Participants will also receive nutrition educational materials including recipes, nutrient values, food preparation and storage information.
Benefit cards will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. Once an application has been received and screened for eligibility, the applicant will be mailed a card, totaling $80 in SFMNP dollars to be used at participating farmers markets and roadside stands throughout Washington State.
SFMNP cards are valid during harvest season, which is June 1 thru October 31 annually.
Where to Shop:
A list of local participating farmers markets and roadside stands will be provided to each recipient of SFMNP cards. All participating farmers markets and roadside stands will have a sign posted that they accept SFMNP cards. Caregivers or family members may purchase produce with the SFMNP cards on behalf of an eligible participant when a PROXY form is filled out by the senior designating someone else to make purchases for them. Proxy form is available upon request. A complete list of all participating farmers markets and roadside stands throughout Washington State is available upon request.

Delivers meals for seniors 60 years and older living in Yakima County and issues Farmer's Market vouchers. Does not serve the Yakama reservation territory: Harrah, Toppenish, Wapato, and White Swan, Parker, Brownstown (call Yakama Nation Area Agency on Aging at 509-865-7164).
Delivers 7-day once a week frozen meals in Yakima County for seniors 60 yrs and older who are homebound, not able to prepare meals, and don't have anyone to help prepare meals. Meals are limited in fat, sugar, salt, and spices through a dietitian.
Provides Farmers Market Food Vouchers ($80) to low-income Yakima County seniors, 60 years and older, who meet the income guidelines (does not serve Yakama Reservation).
