Trans Families is a place where parents and caregivers of gender diverse children everywhere can make crucial connections. Through support groups, forums and special events,  finding resources, increasing knowledge and joining with other families helps them move from isolation and apprehension to a deeper understanding that they are not alone.

Support Groups and Resources offered by Trans Families

Offers transgender cultural competency trainings, seminars, workshops, support groups and consultations to families and professionals working with gender diverse and transgender children and teens.

Mutual support groups whose members identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirit or as part of other communities such as those in the process of coming out or questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. Groups may also be structured for parents, children, heterosexual partners or other relatives or significant others. The groups provide an opportunity for members to share their issues and concerns with others in a safe, supportive environment. Meeting formats may include in-person, telephone or Internet options.

LGBTQ2+ Support Groups

Programs that offer workshops, discussion groups and other types of training which focus on the knowledge and interpersonal skills that participants may need in order to work and live comfortably and effectively with people, for example, who have different cultural or religious backgrounds or sexual orientations, or who live with disabilities or represent a different age group. The training typically helps participants clarify their own values and attitudes and understand how these condition their expectations of and reactions to others. It may also include material that addresses the similarities and differences between two (or more) specific cultures and helps participants understand the perspectives, customs, history, use of language and other aspects of the other culture in order to help prevent cultural differences from becoming barriers to communication, interaction and appreciation.
