Habitat restoration work parties are held every Wednesday year-round and 2-3 Saturdays per month between October and May. Volunteering is a fun way to see Land Trust properties, exercise, and improve wildlife habitat at different locations throughout the Nisqually River Watershed, from Lacey to Ashford. Here are some of the activities volunteers are involved in: - Plantings - plant native trees and shrubs to restore or rehabilitate disturbed areas. - Plant maintenance - mulch around new native trees and shrubs and help remove plant protectors from established seedlings. - Weed control - cut or pull invasive weeds that threaten the health of native plants. Assists qualifying families in building or repairing homes through a volunteer organization. The process includes a credit check and meeting income guidelines. An agreement is made to help build or repair the applicant's home as well as other Habitat homes.

The City of Olympia maintains over 1300 acres of parkland that include neighborhood, community, open space and special use parks, as well as recreational facilities. All parks are open daily, from dawn to dusk. Please be aware that several factors can impact gate openings and closings and that times can fluctuate based on road conditions, staff resources and unplanned circumstances. Also accepts volunteers to help with trail maintenance, habitat restoration and more.

This program matches seniors who want to volunteer their time with local non profits who need volunteers. AmeriCorps is the largest service network for seniors over 55 years of ago. Volunteer opportunities include Meals on Wheels delivery, high end thrift shops, hospitals and a community library, and a few clerical/administrative positions. Site stewards "adopt" one of the Land Trust's properties and periodically monitor the property for changes, reporting their observations to the Land Trust. Volunteers are able to explore beautiful sites in the Nisqually River watershed, and it helps the Land Trust identify and address issues on their properties.

Provides additional assistance to property owners with graffiti cover up or repainting in particularly heavy cases. Also provide trash clean up within rights of way.

Everett's Adopt-a-Street program was established to develop a partnership between volunteers and the City of Everett to create a better living environment by reducing street litter.  Participating groups agree to remove litter from assigned sections of street right-of-ways at least 4 times a year, over a 1 year period. In return, Everett personnel install permanent signs identifying the adopting group and provide necessary equipment and training.
