Autism Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy (ABA) offered at Children's Developmental Center

Programs that specialize in providing therapeutic interventions that utilize classical and operant conditioning techniques including positive and negative reinforcement, systematic desensitization, covert sensitization, relaxation training and aversion techniques to reduce or eliminate maladaptive behavior.

Behavior Modification

Programs that specialize in providing therapeutic interventions that are based on the theory developed primarily by Alfred Bandura that the development, maintenance and modification of behavior can be explained in terms of operant and classical conditioning in combination with cognitive mediational processes including vicarious learning.  Therapy techniques to reduce or eliminate maladaptive behavior include role modeling, role playing and behavioral rehearsal.

Social Learning

Programs that offer any of a variety of therapeutic interventions, which may be used singly or in combination, to address the range of social, language, sensory and behavioral difficulties experienced by children and adults with autism and related disorders. Because of the spectrum nature of autism and the many behavior combinations that can occur, treatment approaches must be tailored to meet the individual needs of each person. Included are behavioral and communication development approaches, specialized curricula and sensory integration; biomedical and dietary treatments including psychiatric medications, vitamins and minerals (such as Vitamin B6, magnesium and essential fatty acids), treatment using the hormone secretin and special diets; and various complementary therapies such as music, art or equestrian, speech, physical or occupational which may be used on an individual basis or integrated into an educational program.

Autism Therapy

Provides navigation services for parents and caregivers with children up to the age of 5. Helps clients navigate complex systems in order to solve complex issues and prevent them from happening again. Available in English and Spanish.

Provides navigation services for parents and caregivers with children up to the age of 5.

Programs that help nonprofit organizations develop a better understanding of the legislative process, the laws that govern the nature and extent of their involvement in public policy development and lobbying activities, and the difference between lobbying and political activities; and learn effective strategies and techniques for engaging in community organizing, or planning, developing and implementing public policy positions and/or grassroots or direct lobbying campaigns that effectively further the goals of their organization or benefit the people they serve.

Organizational Advocacy Program Development

Programs that provide a comprehensive, structured evaluation of a child's cognitive/intellectual functioning, language and communication skills, independent living skills, social and emotional development and perceptual/motor functioning in order to identify individuals who show developmental delays, determine the nature and extent of the problem and recommend a course of treatment and care. Developmental assessments are generally offered by a developmental assessment specialist, or a team of professionals that can include a pediatrician, language specialist, audiologist, occupational therapist, child psychologist and child psychiatrist, among others. They involve age-adjusted questions regarding a child's growth, physical movements, behavior, play, and interactions with family members and the rest of the world as well as a series of tests that may include a physical exam, hearing and eye screenings, play observation, and standardized tests that present the child with specific tasks to determine areas of strength and weakness. They can also be used to identify individuals who have developmental disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, autism and neurological impairments, in order to establish eligibility for state and federally funded programs.

Pediatric Developmental Assessment

Provides services for special needs children from birth to 12, needing behavior assessment and brief treatment for challenging behaviors, such as severe tantrums, aggression, and self injury.

Behavioral Health Services for Children offered at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic at Children's Village

Provides outpatient behavioral health services for special needs children.

Programs that specialize in the treatment of children from infancy to age 12 who have adjustment problems, behavior problems, emotional disturbances, a personality disorder or incipient mental illness.

Child Guidance

Programs that offer simple tests that people who are concerned about their emotional health can take to learn more about their symptoms and ways of coping with them. Individuals generally have an opportunity to see a film and/or hear a talk about the causes, symptoms and treatment of specific mental health conditions; complete a screening questionnaire; and talk about the results with a mental health professional. People who show signs of a disorder are encouraged to seek further evaluation and, potentially, treatment. Most mental health screenings are confidential and available at no cost. Mental health screenings may also be available by telephone or online.

Mental Health Screening

ACT offers rehabilitation and support services to adults experiencing severe and persistent psychosis. During the screening process, our ACT team will determine which model of care best meets the individual's needs. We offer two models of care under the ACT umbrella: Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) and Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (FACT). 

Regardless of the model of care, our full team of experts is available to provide individualized support. This team can support career and learning goals, offer peer support and mentorship, provide access to preventive healthcare, help develop healthy lifestyle choices, coordinate with medical services, and provide medication treatment and education.

ACT -  Assertive Community Treatment offered at Kitsap Mental Health Services

Provides extensive 24-hour community based treatment to persons diagnosed with a severe and persistent behavioral health disorder avoid hospitalization.

Programs, which may be available on a 24-hour basis, that provide walk-in treatment services for people who have minor illnesses or injuries. Urgent care centers serve as an alternative to hospital emergency departments for episodic care that can not be delayed until an appointment at a physician's office is available; and are often equipped to provide services not generally available in primary care physician offices, e.g., have x-ray facilities that allow for treatment of minor fractures and foreign bodies such as nail gun injuries and/or minor care trauma rooms that facilitate the repair of minor and moderate to severe lacerations that can be treated in an urgent care center.

Urgent Care Centers

Programs that coordinate access to outpatient mental health services and/or psychiatric hospitalization and residential treatment facilities in a community by evaluating the nature and severity of an individual's mental health condition, determining which service response would best meet the needs of the patient, doing an eligibility assessment, and providing a referral to (or facilitating placement in) an appropriate program or facility. Mental health triage services may be located in an emergency department, community mental health service, call center or co-located with other specialized mental health services
