Focuses on helping patients whose habits, unhealthy behaviors, stress, medical problems or emotions interfere with daily routines and negatively affect health. Referral needed from ICHS primary care provider.
Treatment begins with a 30-minute consultation session where a behavioral health provider will gather information about a problem and recommend brief interventions. This commonly occurs during an appointment with the primary care provider.
Works with the patient to create an effective treatment plan that takes into account the patient's unique traditions and cultural practices.
Helps the patient implement previous skills, learn new skills, and make changes to become well.
If treatment requires medication, treatment team will either obtain recommendations from or refer to a specialist with advanced expertise.
The behavioral health provider works jointly with patients, primary care providers and other health care team members to evaluate and treat any health concerns affected by behavior.
