Using various tests, screens, and questionnaires the counselor gathers data revealing the extent of the client's involvement with alcohol and other drugs. The client’s point of view of his/her substance use, and other verifiable, or objective data (e.g., BAL at time of arrest, driving abstract, etc.) are needed to make the diagnosis. Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) laws mandate that all persons convicted of DUI/PC shall complete a Substance Use Assessment at a DOH Behavioral Health approved facility.
MERIT is a WA State approved facility for DOL Assessment, ADIS, Treatment, and Completion Reporting.

DUI Evaluations Provides a court-ordered assessment of individuals who have been convicted of driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol to evaluate the severity of their problem and make a recommendation to the court regarding appropriate treatment. Outpatient Treatment Provides outpatient substance use disorder services that usually requires fewer than nine hours per week of attendance, which may include individual and group counseling, 12-step meetings, social and recreational activities, educational and vocational services, life skills training, primary health care, perinatal health care, relapse prevention services, a continuing care program and supportive services (transportation and parenting skills development). Length of service can be anywhere between six months to two years depending on the needs of the individual and/or court order. Intensive Outpatient Treatment Provides outpatient SUD services that usually require 9-20 hours per week of attendance, which may include individual and group counseling, 12-step meetings, social and recreational activities, educational and vocational services, life skills training, primary health care, perinatal health care, relapse prevention services, a continuing care program and supportive services (transportation and parenting skills development). Agency provides BH-ASO-certified service(s).

Women's Substance Use Treatment offered at New Traditions
Offers comprehensive outpatient chemical dependency treatment services to women, including chemical dependency assessments, intensive outpatient, outpatient, on-site childcare and parenting classes.
Offers intensive, outpatient and aftercare services. Groups meet at variable times throughout the week. Individual sessions occur at least once a month and more often as needed.
Offers childcare for clients who come to our office for assessment or treatment. Children must be 6 years or younger.
Additionally offers parenting classes, focused on helping women in recovery.
Staff will work with client to coordinate benefits, research housing options, get back into school, as well as assist with any other goals, needs or ambitions.
