Operates a confidential 24-hour hotline for information on poisoning, medication overdose as well as illicit drug exposure.  Aids in diagnosis and emergency treatment and is available to the general public, physicians and emergency departments.  The toll-free number will automatically route caller to the nearest poison control center in the United States.  All calls are confidential and are not reported to law enforcement. EMERGENCY INFORMATION: If you need an assessment of a potential medication overdose, get the following information: -  Exact name of medication from label (prescription or over-the-counter), if possible, or a description of the drug taken if name is unknown -  The amount of the drug taken (i.e. , milligrams per pill and total number of pills taken) -  When the drug was taken -  Whether alcohol was taken or not; if so, how much and when - Approximate age, weight and height of patient -  Time of last meal eaten -  Approximate tolerance (i.e., has patient been taking same medication for years or only a week)  Predicts the most likely consequences and recommend the best emergency treatment for children and adults. Can also provide general information regarding the effects of various recreational drugs (amphetamines, hallucinogens, etc. ) to the public or members of the "drug culture. " It is recommended that people call the center prior to calling their physician or an emergency room as time is an important factor.  If a parent suspects a child has ingested a potentially poisonous substance, they can call the center and find out the toxicity of the product and the best immediate treatment to counteract it.  This center will notify the emergency room so they are prepared when the patient arrives.  The center has access to other specialized information sources for certain types of poisoning such as plants and insecticides. Assessment or information is available on workplace exposure, hazardous materials and environmental concerns.

Recorded Disease Hotline provides information to the public about specific diseases that are currently affecting the Northwest, as well as general communicable disease information.   Hotline also provides information about immunizations.

Helpline offers arthritis prevention and control information as well as referrals to physicians. Provides public and professional arthritis education programs and materials.   Minimal collection of materials in Spanish.

Provides current information on women's health issues both over the phone and on a website. Offers publications on various health topics such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, body image, HIV/AIDS, menopause, quitting smoking and violence against women. Information is available for special populations: minority women, women with disabilities, girls, and men. Referrals can be made to appropriate national health organizations.

Provides information regarding HIV/STD transmission, referral to services, HIV antibody counseling and testing (anonymous and confidential), individual and group support for HIV positive individuals, educational presentations to high risk populations.  

Provides a referral to an ophthalmologist (medical eye doctor) for a medical eye exam to eligible adults nationwide at no out of pocket costs for the doctor fees. Promotes annual, dilated eye exams. People eligible for a referral through the program receive a comprehensive, medical eye exam and up to one year of care at no out-of-pocket cost for any disease diagnosed during the initial exam.

Provides City of Spokane residents with a variety of options for quickly reaching the appropriate level of medical care when calling 911. Based on the description of your symptoms, you may be transferred to a Nurse Navigator who will work with you to determine an appropriate path for treatment and assist in coordinating that care.

Provides information about exercise classes for people with Parkinson disease as well as educational classes on managing Parkinson disease and classes for caregivers. Most classes are virtual.

Operates a 24-hour hotline open to the community for questions on how to care for a drug-affected or drug-addicted infant.  Hotline also answers questions on how to make a referral for a baby who will be born affected by or addicted to drugs.

Helps individuals with MS, and the people close to them, adjust to life with this disease.   Helpline specialists may recommend resources that would be of help to the caller, and assists with the application process.   The MSAA Equipment Distribution Program offers clients a selection of products designed to improve their safety, dignity, mobility, and independence.   Provides these products at no charge for eligible individuals and ships directly to the client.  

Information Specialists assist patients and their families through treatment for blood-related cancers. Information Specialists are Master's-level oncology social workers, nurses, and health educators that offer the following services: - Provide information about treatment options; - Search for clinical trials and help you develop a list of questions to ask your doctor about participating in a clinical trial; - Help you communicate with members of your health care team; - Provide educational materials; - Connect you to national resources and connect you with a staff member at your chapter to guide you to local programs and resources.

Also operates an online chat service where users can receive information via the website.
