Severe Weather Shelter offered at United Methodist Church in Port Orchard
CLOSED: Opens severe weather shelters for individuals and families when hazardous weather conditions are expected. Those needing transportation to the closest shelter can call to arrange for a ride.
Provides safe warm beds to stay overnight for people in need during severe weather events. The shelters will open if any of the following conditions are met:
- If temperatures are expected to be at or below 32 degrees for four or more hours and one or more successive days and/or
- If snow accumulation is expected to exceed one inch or more for more than two days and/or
- If there are two or more successive days of one inch or more of rain.
- If 1.5 inches or more of rainfall is anticipated on a single day.
- If high wind warnings are issued.
- If a single day of ineligible criteria is preceded by two or more days of confirmed activation and followed by at least one day of confirmed activation.
