Provides inpatient hospitalization for adults, ages 18-59, who are severely mentally ill and committed for care by a civil court proceeding. Provides individual care and assistance with recovery.
Provides inpatient hospitalization for adults who are severely mentally ill and are voluntarily admitted or committed for care by a civil court proceeding.
A team will develop a treatment plan for each individual, addressing individual and family needs, the social environment, medical care, and vocational and legal issues.
Families are encouraged to participate with the patient's consent.
Medical responsibility is maintained through continuous 24-hour physician and registered nurse coverage.
The majority of patients are involved in active treatment activities during the hours of 9-11am and 1-3pm.
It is recommended that guests refrain from visiting during those hours.
Visitors may call ahead to schedule a time to meet with the patient's treatment team and/or to participate in the patient's treatment conference. This would first have to be authorized by the patient.
Major treatment therapies include:
- Medication
- Group and individual therapy
- Family therapy
- Drug and alcohol education
- Behavioral psychotherapy
Provides monthly payments to adults and children with a disability who have income and resources below specific financial limits. Washington pays an additional state supplement, and clients are automatically eligible for Medicaid as well as food benefits.
Provides monthly checks to people who are elderly, disabled and/or blind and meet other program eligibility guidelines.
The basic monthly check is the same in all states; some states add money to the basic rate.
Recipients are also eligible for WA Apple Health (Medicaid) and may be eligible for Social Security and food benefits.
WASHCAP (Washington State Combined Application Program) Applicants for SSI will be asked if they want to apply for food benefits and may choose the Basic Food Benefits plan or WASHCAP benefits. WASHCAP is a joint effort between the Social Security Administration and DSHS to simplify the way food assistance is delivered to SSI recipients.
WASHCAP recipients benefit because they
- Need only contact SSA to report changes in their circumstances
- Are certified for benefits for 36 months
- May receive a larger monthly benefit

Assists recipients of DSHS public assistance with obtaining a Washington State ID card at a reduced cost from the Department of Licensing. Case workers at DSHS will fill out a form clients can take to DOL and get a card for $5.

DSHS public assistance clients will need to get a "Request for Identicard form" completed by DSHS to take to DOL.
The client will then need to take the form to DOL, along with required evidence of identity as requested by DOL, and $5 to apply for the Identicard.
The $5 is the cost to produce the card. Washington State Identification cards regularly cost $54 for a first-time or renewal, $20 for a replacement, or $10 for an address change.
