Supports renters who have problematic rental histories through training and one-on-one assistance in identifying what in their history is preventing them from obtaining housing and create a plan to address the past, start fresh, and initiate a positive rental history. By participating in a two-to-three-hour training, clients will receive a customized training in Landlord/Tenant Laws, an overview of what Landlords screen for in a tenant, soft skills on how to resolve conflict constructively and a "Tool Box" of resources to assist tenant in successfully obtaining housing.

Financial Literacy and Rental Education (F.L.A.R.E.) is a series of FREE classes designed to increase adults’ knowledge of their individual money habits and attitudes, saving strategies, tracking spending, budget skills and credit along with the basic skills to become a competent renter. F.L.A.R.E. counts as a WorkFirst activity for TANF participants.

Provides housing counseling services to low-income clients who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or fleeing a domestic violence situation. Services may include connecting clients with landlords, dealing with barriers to housing including those with criminal background, credit issues, or past evictions, and helping clients in need of housing assistance that are unable to be referred because they do not qualify.

Provides a Rent Well instructor certification program for nonprofit organization staff. Individuals interested in becoming new instructors need to complete a 2-day, 16-hour New Instructor Training that happens 4 times per year. After becoming a certified instructor, instructors must teach at least 1 class per year and complete a re-certification training every 2 years.

Offers a rental education class provided by certified YWCA North Central WA staff. In the class, participants work closely with housing advocates to accept responsibility for past rental issues; and understand the application and rental process.

Provides a 15-hour tenant education curriculum that gives support, knowledge, and expertise they need to become successful tenants. Curriculum is broken up into twelve 70-minute sections and can be taught through in-person classes by certified instructors, over Zoom, or as a stand-alone eCourse. These sections cover everything from Fair Housing Laws, the rental screening process, how to talk to a potential landlord about screening barriers, credit repair and building, how to maintain a healthy home, and the eviction process. Also provides a course for individuals at nonprofit organizations who wish to become class instructors.

Road to Renting is a housing education program that teaches about landlord tenant laws, credit scores and how to get one, and budgeting education. Eligible participants include people living in Spokane County who have been off the housing market or who are working toward a Section 8 voucher. Classes typically held at the Women's Hearth on the 2nd Thursday of the month or at the Central (Downtown Spokane) Library on the 4th Thursday of the month.

Provides information on landlord-tenant laws and legal rights and options for tenants with immediate housing problems, including eviction. One-on-one counseling is available. Assists in organizing groups of tenants to bring about landlord compliance with the Landlord/Tenant Act and existing housing codes. Provides community education on tenant issues, advocates for tenants' rights and offers referrals for rent assistance. Does not provide legal counsel, but does provide referrals to appropriate counsel.
