ONLY serves Cheney School District excluding Airway Heights.

Helps military service members and their families who run into unexpected financial difficulties as a result of deployment or other hardships directly related to military service.   Assists with basic life needs and unanticipated financial needs such as:   -  Mortgage and rent -  Car payment -  Home and auto repairs -  Insurance   -  Utilities -  Food -  Clothing.    The financial assistance is in the form of up to $1,500 in grants that do not need to be repaid.   All grants are paid directly to the "creditor" (such as the electric company), and not to the individual.   Each case is reviewed individually and acceptance determined by a committee.   Applicants can receive funds only once every 18 months, and only twice total.   Second requests for assistance must be caused by a new situation and deployment.

Provides interest-free loans or grants to help with emergency needs such as: emergency transportation; funeral expenses; medical/dental bills; food/rent/utilities; disaster relief assistance; child care expenses; essential vehicle repairs; and personal needs when pay is delayed.

Medical Transportation: If you or your children are insured through Washington Apple Health, you can receive assistance with ferry and gas costs for necessary off-island medical appointments. Please contact our office for information about how to enroll in the Medical Transportation Program.  San Juan County Transportation Voucher Program: This annual program offered through San Juan County can help low-income households with transportation needs including ferry tickets, local taxi fare and some car maintenance and repair services. If your total household income is under $25,000 you may qualify.

If that office is closed and the emergency is of such a nature that it cannot wait until the next business day (e.g. death in the immediate family), the answering machine will provide instructions for obtaining "after hours" assistance. When there is no NMCRS office in the area, an available Coast Guard Mutual Aid or American Red Cross Office can process your request on behalf of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

Helps community members with short-term, emergency assistance. Offers utility assistance which helps with gas, electric and water bills as well as Puget Sound Energy bills. Can also help with partial rental payments, clothing and household items and laundry vouchers. Provides transportation assistance by providing bus passes, gas vouchers and helping with car repairs.

Limited financial assistance to persons residing within the boundaries of the Stanwood-Camano School District to prevent eviction or disconnection of essential services, or for basic needs in emergency situations.
