King County Superior Court is a general jurisdiction trial court with responsibility for: - Civil matters involving more than $300, unlawful detainers and injunctions - Felony criminal cases - Misdemeanor criminal cases not otherwise provided for by law   - Family law, including dissolutions, child support, adoptions, parentage and domestic-violence protection matters - Probate and guardianship matters - Juvenile offender matters   - Juvenile dependencies, including abused and neglected children, children in need of services, at-risk youth and truancies - Mental illness and involuntary commitment matters Superior Court judges are available to perform civil wedding ceremonies.   Drop-in child care provided by the Children's Home Society at the Regional Justice Center while children's parents appear in court.

The District Court does not have jurisdiction in cases involving the title to real estate and certain other limited exceptions.

Provides limited jurisdiction court services, including those cases that would normally be filed in a Municipal Court for the Cities of Wenatchee, Leavenworth, Cashmere and Chelan. The court handles both criminal and civil matters. -  Criminal Cases involve crimes punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $5,000 fine and include such charges as theft, domestic violence, assault, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, hit and run, reckless endangerment, malicious mischief, and driving with a suspended license. -  Civil matters include personal injury, property damage, and contract disputes. Current civil jurisdiction for actions filed in District Court is $75,000 and the Small Claims jurisdiction in $5,000. The court's jurisdiction also covers civil anti-harassment actions, stalking, name changes, impound hearings, and certain lien foreclosures. Also handles traffic infractions for such violations as speeding, negligent driving, failure to stop, driving without liability insurance, and driving without a driver's license. Other citations include red light camera and parking violations.

The Superior Court Facilitator can help clients with filing of paperwork on Domestic and Custody cases. Court staff cannot provide: Advice about whether someone should file a case or whether they should take any particular action in a case. Information or what words to put in a form. Speculation about what decision the judge might make or what sentence the judge might impose. Comment about specific persons you may name in a petition or pleading. Change an order signed by a judge. King County District Court has jurisdiction over civil actions if the amount in controversy does not exceed $100,000.  Civil cases are usually disputes between private citizens, corporations, governmental bodies or other organizations.  They involve the determination of private or civil rights and compensation for the infraction.   This may include personal or property rights, such as: -  Landlord and tenant disputes -  Auto or personal accidents -  A breach of warranty -  Faulty consumer goods -  Contract disputes -  Foreclosures -  Professional liability suits   This jurisdiction DOES NOT deal with actions involving title to:  -  Real estate -  False imprisonment -  Libel -  Slander -  Malicious prosecution -  Seduction -  A person in his/her capacity as an executor or administrator of an estate  The trial in a civil action may be heard before either a judge or a jury. Either side may request a jury.
