Municipal court is a court of limited jurisdiction.   The judge is authorized by Washington state statute to preside over the following types of cases:   -  Civil and traffic infractions -  Criminal misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors -  Civil vehicle impound hearings.   The court schedules arraignments, pre-trial hearings, non-jury and jury trials, sentencing, and reviews.   The court provides related services including legal representation for indigent persons, work crew and probation supervision, and public defense screener services. The court does not hear small claims cases, change names, or issue passports or marriage licenses. Offers a relicensing program.   Contracts with the Dispute Resolution Center of King County to allow low-cost mediations to take place at the courthouse.

Supervises and monitors all adult felony offenders that are placed on community supervision by the state's Superior Courts, placed on post-release supervision from a state correctional institution, or transferred from another state under the Interstate Compact Agreement.  General individual counseling is available to offenders for personal and practical matters.  Clients are referred to mental health counseling or sexual deviation counseling.  Provides limited assistance finding housing, employment or vocational training.  Encourages offenders to independently utilize community resources.

The Winlock Municipal Court is a court of limited jurisdiction and provides exclusive original jurisdiction over alleged violations of all City of Winlock ordinances and some state statutes. These charges may include non-traffic infractions, traffic infractions, criminal misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors. The court is responsible for collecting all fines and penalties arising from these violations, and processes and maintains all court related documents. The municipal court schedules all hearings and supervises related services including indigent defense, probation services, electronic home monitoring, and community service.

Provides counseling, diversion, restitution, community service, school program, urinalysis, assistance for at-risk youth and detention service.

The Juvenile Court is a division of Superior Court and has jurisdiction over matters which involve juveniles who are under 18 years of age, including - criminal cases, - dependency petitions, - at-risk youth petitions, - children in need of service (CHINS) petitions, - truancy, - sealing and destroying of juvenile records, - marriage waivers and - minors' work permits. Juvenile Probation Officers meet with offender and parents, assure knowledge of their legal rights, and assist them in obtaining legal representation.  They determine classification of the offender, prepare disposition reports, testify in court, maintain records, investigate restitution claims, and provide supervision of juveniles to ensure compliance with court-ordered terms/conditions.

Provides community supervision of offenders in lieu of prison sentences and post-prison supervision. Includes banked caseload on call-in basis after sentence conditions completed, except outstanding legal financial obligations.

Responsible for providing juvenile detention, probation, and court services. All criminal cases involving children who are at least eight and not yet 18 years of age are referred to the Juvenile Center to be screened and scheduled for court hearings or diversion. Youth may be brought to detention by law enforcement when arrested for a crime or on a warrant. Each juvenile offender is assigned a probation counselor who works with the youth and their family to make sure that court orders are followed and to provide treatment and other services designed to reduce recidivism. Provides legal intervention for youth up to 18 years of age who have been arrested and/or charged with criminal activity or have legal issues pursuant to a civil procedure.   Provides Court, Probation and Detention Services to the citizens of Thurston County.
