Provides Juvenile court services for offender and non-offender youth. Non-offender youth are those involved in dependency, youth at risk and truancy cases. Juvenile probation serves youth placed on probation through court. Juvenile detention services are provided for juveniles ordered to serve detention time or juveniles awaiting court that have been arrested or detained on a warrant from the offender or non-offender court.

The Juvenile Court is a division of Superior Court and has jurisdiction over matters which involve juveniles who are under 18 years of age, including - criminal cases, - dependency petitions, - at-risk youth petitions, - children in need of service (CHINS) petitions, - truancy, - sealing and destroying of juvenile records, - marriage waivers and - minors' work permits. Municipal court provides services related to civil traffic infractions and all criminal misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor incidents that occur within the city of Des Moines and are filed with the court.   Court schedules arraignments, pre-trial hearings, nonjury and jury trials, sentencing, etc.  Also provides related services including legal representation for indigent individuals and probation supervision.

Supervises and monitors all adult felony offenders that are placed on community supervision by the state's Superior Courts, placed on post-release supervision from a state correctional institution, or transferred from another state under the Interstate Compact Agreement.  General individual counseling is available to offenders for personal and practical matters.  Clients are referred to mental health counseling or sexual deviation counseling.  Provides limited assistance finding housing, employment or vocational training.  Encourages offenders to independently utilize community resources.

Seattle Municipal Court Probation Services works with individuals sentenced to probation following conviction or other disposition of misdemeanor offenses, including domestic violence, theft, trespassing, assault, and DUI. The department monitors compliance with court-ordered conditions and supports individuals in meeting requirements such as mental health and substance use disorder treatment, monitoring conditions and reporting obligations, while providing timely compliance information to the Court. Probation Services also supports specialized and therapeutic court programs (Mental Health Court, Veteran’s Treatment Court, Domestic Violence Intervention Project), and coordinates with community service providers.
