Conducts residential or commercial security surveys of city residents' property. Police will check for proper locks and window latches and other safety considerations. Coordinates neighborhood block watches. Registers residents who may have difficulty communicating or may need special assistance during an emergency situation. This kind of assistance may be needed if the person is unable to speak or properly identify themselves, or if they become disoriented or act in a manner that could be misinterpreted by first responders. Sheriff and Community Policing Effort provides assistance with safety in the community.

The Office of Neighborhoods teams up law enforcement with social workers who go out into the field – literally – to identify, locate, and connect with homeless and vulnerable populations in the county. The goal is to foster long-term relationships and break the cycle of homelessness, mental health, and/or chemical dependency in our county. Together, Office of Neighborhoods deputies and police officers and Law Enforcement Embedded Social Workers (LEESWs) assist frequent jail utilizers, the homeless, and the mentally ill to find services they need and lessen the likelihood of re-offending, law enforcement contact, or incarceration.

Helps neighborhoods establish block watch programs; coordinates the burglary prevention program.   Volunteers inspect homes for security ideas and engrave valuables.   Speakers are available to talk about rape prevention and the K9 unit, to participate in seminars, and to speak to community groups and schools.

Offers Awareness and Safety Training to residents of Tacoma and Pierce County to learn how to navigate the 911 system, how to effective observe and report suspicious activity, and why being a good neighbor is important.  Hear from South Sound 911 as well as from local law enforcement about the need for neighbors to get to know each other and the importance of staying connected to resources.

Provides law enforcement, crime prevention programs (such as D.A.R.E.), youth services, and Crime Resistant Community Living for the city of Kennewick. The Crime Resistant Community Living program is designed as a partnership among law enforcement, property owners and managers, and residents to help keep drugs and other criminal activity out of residential rental property, thereby maintaining the quality of our communities and neighborhoods. D.A.R.E. Program: prevention program for students to learn about resisting drugs and alcohol. Provides youth division law enforcement services for the city of Kennewick.

Responds to the law enforcement needs of citizens in Edmonds by providing crime prevention and investigation services. Also provides animal control, lost and found, and parking enforcement services.

Provides police services to residents of Auburn.  Provides the following crime prevention programs:   - Operation Identification: Loans an electric engraver to residents to mark valuable property.   - Neighborhood Watch: Operates a program in which residents are organized and instructed in home security.   - Safety Education Programs: Child safety programs are designed for grades K-6 on bicycle safety, school bus safety, seat belts, etc.   - Personal Safety Education: Provides information on rape prevention and advice for older adults.   - House Checks: Provides regular house checks for residents going out of town; program is limited to two weeks.   - Business Program: Presents a program on loss prevention and armed robbery.

Provides law enforcement services to enable a safe and secure environment through community partnerships. Protect the rights of citizens from those who wish to compromise those rights. Services include a block watch program, citizen's police academy, community emergency response team training, embedded social worker, community outreach team, fingerprinting, and a police K-9 program.

Provides law enforcement, detective and police emergency services for the city of Newcastle.   Contracts with the King County Sheriff's Office for police services.   Coordinates a neighborhood block watch program.

Operates Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch programs, Citizen's Police Academy and Women's Personal Safety Classes.   Police Department is a Member of Seattle-King County Crime Stoppers Program.   Crime Prevention brochures are available in Spanish.
