Responsible for addressing codes that violate public health and safety issues, including, but not limited to: -  Junk Vehicles or Vehicle Parts -  Overgrown Vegetation -  Household Items -  Nuisances -  Home Occupation -  Residential Parking -  Canopy Tent Structures -  Fences   Code Compliance actions are taken by priority, both proactively and reactively in response to Requests for Action received from citizens. If an ordinance or regulation is being violated, the Code Compliance Officer will contact the homeowner or tenant in person to discuss the violation. The Officer requests the violation(s) be corrected within a certain time frame. The amount of time depends on the seriousness of the violation. If the violation(s) are not corrected, the Code Compliance Officer will again make contact with the homeowner or tenant indicating that the violation(s) are to be corrected within certain time frame. If the property remains in violation the Code Compliance Officer will issue a Notice of Violation and Order to Abate or a Citation. Fines will be assessed if not corrected and the file turned over to the City Attorney's department for further action. If the violation(s) are not corrected, the City may abate the property by removing the violation(s), bill the cost to the property owner and seek recovery of the costs.

Provides basic city government services, including building permits. Investigates reports of non-emergency issues such as potholes, vandalism, graffiti, tree concerns, street and sidewalk issues and abandoned vehicles.

Offers an easy to remember phone number that City of Tacoma residents can call when they need information about city services and contacts. Also offers web support so city residents can submit complaints, compliments, ask a question or get the answers to commonly asked questions. Can provide information on city services like: - graffiti clean-up - parking information - permits - code violations - grounds maintenance - street repair - traffic light problems and report crimes that are not in progress.

Responds to concerns from citizens regarding conditions on private property that affect the quality of life within the city, such as: - An accumulation of garbage - Overgrown lots or yards - Junk vehicles - Vacant buildings that are open to unauthorized entry - Illegal businesses - Parking in the front yard - Graffiti - Public nuisances which render properties substandard or unsafe to its occupants or the public.

Enforces compliance to Renton's Municipal Code in areas relating to   -  Junk/abandoned vehicles;   -  Graffiti -  Trash, litter and garbage -  Excessive growth of weeds -  Illegal land clearing, grading and filling  -  Zoning violations

Investigates potential or actual violations of the city, public health, and other applicable regulations. Issues include -  Animals, number and use -  Illegal land use -  Outdoor use, activity, and storage -  Junk and junk vehicles -  Air quality -  Draining, ditching, filling, or clearing in wetlands

Enforces the Pasco Municipal Code through education, inspections and formal notices (to those remaining in violation). Common nuisance violations include: - Weeds in excess of 12 inches or weeds growing onto other properties. - Dead/dying landscaping (i.e., lawns, trees, etc.) - Trash covered properties. - Major vehicle repair/disassembling vehicles in residential zones. - Storage of vehicle parts outside an enclosed building or container. - Dilapidated buildings, fences and other structures. - Dust blowing onto neighboring properties. - Construction noise between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. - Graffiti Common zoning violations include: - Incomplete landscaping - Vegetation or unpermitted fences obstructing vision at intersections. - Parking on unimproved surfaces such as dirt or grass. - Too many animals kept on a property. - Unpermitted property uses based on zoning district.

Investigates and resolves complaints about city code violations. Examples include weeds, trash, and inoperable vehicles as well as substandard and unfit structures. Most violations are given a 20-day compliance deadline.

Enforces various chapters of the Everett Municipal Code that address public health and safety issues. The following are violations if visible from a street, alley, or public or private property: - Junk, trash, litter, boxes, discarded lumber or salvage materials. - Attractive nuisances that are dangerous to children, such as abandoned, broken or neglected equipment, machinery, refrigerators and freezers, excavations, wells, or shafts. - Broken or discarded furniture, household equipment or furnishings. - Shopping carts in the front yard, side yard, rear yard or vacant lot. - Vehicles that are parked in the front, side or rear yards or are wrecked, taken apart or inoperable. - Dead, decayed, diseased or otherwise hazardous trees. - Overgrown vegetation in the yards of property. - Graffiti or tagging. - Utility trailers or camper tops in the front yard.

Provides a website and an app where residents can ask questions about city services and submit complaints, including complaints about code violations. Code Enforcement topics include: - Abandoned or vacant properties - Garbage, junk, debris in yards - Illegal auto activity such as service and repair - Nuisance properties - Parking of commercial vehicles on private property- - Unpermitted or prohibited signs - Unsafe power lines - Graffiti/vandalism on private property - Unpermitted work

Code enforcement addresses a variety of concerns such as   -  Zoning: Illegal zoning uses; illegal home occupations; setback violations; construction or grading activities in a critical area without permits; sign code violations and shoreline violations -  Nuisance: Junk vehicles; garbage;  trash; discarded and broken items on private property; vegetation hazards; lack of maintenance and disrepair of residential properties; violations of the construction work hour and disturbance or nuisance noise violations -  Building: Construction on new or existing buildings or structures without a building permit; dangerous buildings; housing violations; and grading activities without a permit

Investigates and resolves complaints about violations of the city's building codes, animal codes, litter ordinances, land-use codes, and right-of-way codes. Accepts report about graffiti, illegal dumping, substandard buildings, and junk vehicles. Stores some belongings collected while cleaning up illegal encampments.

Enforces the Edmonds Municipal Code by: - Receiving and investigating reported complaints related to zoning, land use, and development violations - Addressing property maintenance issues, public nuisances, and blight - Responding to concerns regarding unpermitted construction, structures, and land use action - Enforcing regulations related to signage, junk vehicles, outdoor storage, and other code violations - Promoting public health, safety, and neighborhood livability through education and voluntary compliance - Taking enforcement action when necessary to achieve compliance - Providing information and referrals to appropriate agencies or departments for issues outside the scope of code enforcement Services are provided to residents and property owners within the city limits of Edmonds. Issues occurring outside city limits are referred to the appropriate county or jurisdiction. Emergency or immediate life-safety concerns should be reported to 911.

Enforces the Gig Harbor Municipal Code by: - Receiving and investigating reported complaints related to zoning and land use violations - Addressing property maintenance issues and public nuisances - Responding to concerns regarding unpermitted construction, development, and illegal land use - Enforcing sign code regulations - Promoting public health, safety, and neighborhood livability through education and voluntary compliance - Taking enforcement action when necessary to achieve compliance - Providing information and referrals to appropriate agencies or departments for issues outside the scope of code compliance Services are provided to residents and property owners within Gig Harbor city limits. Issues outside city limits are referred to Pierce County Code Enforcement. Emergency or immediate life-safety concerns should be reported to 911.

Investigates potential or actual violations of city, public health and other applicable regulations.   The most common violations investigated include:   -  Building/construction without a valid permit -  Tree removal that exceeds permissible limits and without a valid permit -  Clearing/construction within designated sensitive areas such as wetlands and native growth protection area -  Junk/abandoned vehicles -  Sign code violations   -  Nuisance complaints such as outdoor storage of junk and noise.

Enforces land use regulations within the city of Redmond's Municipal Code - Junk Vehicles on Private Property - Litter & Dumping - Noise - Fences and Deck Height - Home Businesses - Signs - Critical Areas Regulations - Tree Removal

Enforces codes and ordinances which govern the construction, land use, environmental protection, housing and building maintenance, vacant building standards, vegetation overgrowth, and noise from construction and equipment. Common violations include: - Outdoor junk/trash storage in residential zones - Accessory structures in required yards in residential zones - Parking of vehicles in required yards in single-family zones, or an excessive number of vehicles appearing to be inoperable or unregistered - Violation of standards for keeping animals in single-family zones - Violation of standards for home occupations - Violation of minimum fire, safety, and security standards for rental housing - Violation of construction conditions established for a project (Example: exceeding allowed hours of operation or producing excessive noise) - Construction/destruction without first obtaining permits - Dangerous buildings Attempts to gain voluntary compliance in correcting confirmed code violations.

Enforces several ordinances of the city of Auburn. Ensures that the proper permits have been issued for construction of projects, land clearing, grading and filing of property, placement of signs, and that businesses are operating in compliance with the City of Auburn Zoning Code.   Common violations include the following: -  Overgrown grass and weeds -  Junk accumulation -  Vegetation encroachment -  Trash, litter and debris -  Inoperable vehicles -  Illegal parking -  Graffiti -  Nuisance Animals -  Operating a business without a license   Taking enforcement action may be in the form of fines, penalties and challenges in obtaining permits or licenses in the future. Staff conducts routine inspections throughout the city to note the condition of residences and businesses.

Investigates complaints relating to the violation of the property maintenance codes, building codes and zoning ordinances. Common violations include: - Garbage disposal; must maintain active waste removal service - Outdoor storage - Parking on an unimproved surface - Inoperable vehicles - Overgrown vegetation - Building without permits - Roosters - Vacant structures - Fire damaged structures After inspection, if a violation is found, notification is issued regarding the condition with a specific, reasonable timeline to correct.

Enforces municipal codes relating to buildings and construction, land use, environment, business license and registration, parks, streets and sidewalks, junk/hulk vehicle inspections, and public nuisances. Works to gain compliance through notification and education. Common issues include the following: - Vegetation growing into street or over sidewalk - Litter and illegal dumping in the street or right of way - Abandoned vehicles - Unauthorized encampments - Building code violations - Rental/property maintenance code violations - Planning/land use code violations - Environmental code violations

Investigates and enforces violations to Shoreline's Municipal Code. Complaints include -  Graffiti -  Accumulation of refuse, trash, junk, and debris   -  Inoperative, abandoned, vehicles on private property -  Conditions of an existing structure that constitutes a clear and present danger to the public   -  Building Code violations (building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, etc. ), including construction or change of occupants without the required permits   -  Minimal standards for safe, sanitary and habitable housing   -  Violations for structures (such as use and building without permits), and land use requirements   -  Signs, including signs in the public right of way, failure to have required permits, illegal inflatable displays, balloons and pennants, advertisement flyers and portable A-Boards   -  Illegal dumping of oils and other hazardous materials into storm drains   -  Encroachments in the public right of way (basketball goals, skateboard ramps)   -  Overgrown foliage blocking stop signs, impeding sight of driveways or making corners dangerous -  Zoning or occupancy issues   -  Business License and home occupation issues   Cannot take action on behalf of one behalf of one citizen against another. Also cannot enforce a neighborhood homeowners association covenants, codes and or restrictions.

Enforces the regulations contained in the City of Burien Municipal Code relating to building, zoning, land use and nuisance code violations, generally through a complaint-generated system. Code Compliance staff will respond to complaints such as: -  Junk vehicles and residential parking on private property -  Graffiti -  Accumulation of trash, junk or abandoned materials -  Zoning and land use violations -  Construction without a permit

Enforces various chapters of the Issaquah Municipal Code that address public health and safety issues including: -  Dangerous buildings -  Environmental violations -  Housing -  Junk vehicles on private property -  Other nuisances -  Regulations related to rubbish -  Removal of vegetation -  Zoning   Code Enforcement works in partnership with other city departments and Issaquah citizens to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex problems related to health and safety in our community.

Responds to complaints from citizens regarding conditions on private property, both residential and commercial.   Officers investigate the complaints to verify the violations and then contact the property owner about the violations, setting a deadline for compliance. Junk vehicles, uncontained garbage and debris, illegal signs, roosters, construction without permits, and overgrowth are some of the common complaints received and investigated by Code Enforcement. Generally, property owners are allowed at least two weeks to comply, and extensions may be offered upon request based on the magnitude of the problem and the owner’s demonstrated willingness to resolve the violation.   Violations not handled by Code Enforcement: -  Dogs/cats   -  Smoke from wood stoves, odor complaints   -  Illegal burning, noise complaints, vehicles parked on the street
