Country Specific Information is provided for every country in the world through an interactive map feature on the office's website. Topics include US embassy and consular office locations, information about whether a visa is needed to enter the country, information about crime and security, and health and medical considerations. The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a travel registration service for US citizens and nationals who are traveling to, or living in, another country. Once enrolled, participants can receive information about safety conditions in the destination country, help the nearest embassy contact the traveler in an emergency (natural disaster, civil unrest, or family emergency), and help family and friends contact the traveler in case of emergency.
