KCLS offers homework assistance in several ways.    Study Zone: Volunteer tutors provide free homework help at KCLS libraries. Provides a wide range of services for youth 12-24 years of age. Services focus on housing support, mental health, education, parent support, healthcare, criminal/legal support, and advocacy services. - Advocates can help access services based on unique situation & need, such as transportation, phone cards, obtaining a State ID, food banks, DSHS benefit applications, and job search. - Housing support may include housing search, referral to a shelter, temporary housing, or rapid/immediate housing, depending on the client's circumstances. - Refers to Okanogan Behavioral Healthcare or online counseling for mental health support. - Connects clients to criminal/legal support and services, such as defense attorneys, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, or Northwest Justice Project. - Parenting support includes baby items, free books, referrals to child services, and more. - Bilingual tutoring is available on site.

Helps prepare low-income and/or first-generation Seattle high school youth for post-secondary education through academic instruction and tutoring, academic and personal counseling, life skills and leadership development, career exploration and planning, college application assistance, financial aid workshops and college tours. Also requires a six-week summer academic program at Seattle University with high school credit available.

Provides before and after-school sessions Monday through Friday who are in need of support with homework assistance, tutoring and mentoring.  Parents bring children to the before-school session and return in the evening to pick up their children. Children are transported to and from Beacon Hill International and Kimball Elementary schools by van and they participate in academic as well as cultural activities.

Coordinates intervention services for elementary and middle school students in North Central Washington who are at risk of dropping out. Provides resource coordination, individual student support, and school-wide programming in partner schools. As of December 2022, Communities In School of North Central Washington has partnered with the following schools in North Central Washington: Orondo Elementary, Waterville (K-12), as well as 6 schools in the Moses Lake School District - Larson Heights Elementary, Longview Elementary, North Elementary, Park Orchard Elementary, Peninsula Elementary, and Endeavor Middle School.

Offers volunteer opportunities assisting students in grades K through 3rd with one-on-one reading at Kennewick Elementary Schools. Tutoring will be two times a week for 30 minutes and will get to follow along with one child through the year.

Provides college preparation programs for low-income, first-generation students in grades 6-12 in the Tacoma, Franklin-Pierce, and Bethel School Districts. Services include study skills development, tutoring, mentoring, college visits, assistance with college admission and financial aid, career development, cultural enrichment and SAT/ACT preparation.

Youth Programs at Room One consist of both education and direct service advocacy. The education programming supports schools, service providers, and youth with comprehensive health education and teacher training, healthy relationships workshops, and leadership development. The direct service work consists of direct advocacy work with youth and young adults who are experiencing homelessness, parenting, sexual violence, and other issues related to a lack of resources.

Provides K-8th grade students with a safe and supportive environment to socialize and develop life skills. The program includes STEAM activities, social-emotional learning, hands-on education workshops, sports and recreation, leadership skill development, and monthly field trips.

Provides a program where members can relax after school, make new friends, have fun and interact with positive adult role models.  Facility is equipped with foosball, air hockey, bumper pool and ping-pong tables, Legos, chess, board games, a reading and homework room and a gym for part of the day.  Power Hour matches kids with tutors during an organized homework period and provides study space.   Middle and high school students have their own teen space.   Transportation is provided by most north end public schools.

The focus is to inspire, relate, enrich, and bring adults and students together in a community partnership, which can create a lasting beneficial effect on the lives of young people. - Mentors and students meet once or twice each month for 3-4 hours total - Mentoring is about dedication, so a yearlong commitment is required - Mentors will meet with their students to share hobbies, recreational activities, and perhaps a glimpse of the mentor's work environment - Goal setting, life skill development, encouragement and guidance should be at the heart of each mentoring relationship
