Diabetes Prevention Program offered at YMCA Bremerton Family Center
Prevent T2 is the YMCA’s signature and supportive, 12-month small group program where participants work together to learn about healthier eating and physical activity in order to reduce their risk for developing diabetes.
Offers a one-year, community-based, lifestyle intervention program for overweight adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Designed to enable adults to adopt and maintain lifestyle changes that will improve their overall health and reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Through the program, participants will receive support and encouragement from both a trained Lifestyle Coach and fellow participants as they develop a plan for improving and maintaining their overall well-being.
The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program is nationally supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other national organizations committed to preventing chronic disease.
The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program uses a CEC-approved curriculum and is part of the CEC-led National Diabetes Prevention Program.

Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) offered at Metro Parks People's Community Center
Offers a fall prevention program to improve strength, balance and fitness for adults 65 years of age and older. Classes are usually offered 2-3 times per week.
Offers a strength, balance and fitness program for adults 65 and older. Performing exercises that improve strength, balance and fitness are the single most important activity that adults can do to stay active and reduce their chance of falling.The entire curriculum of activities in the SAIL Program can help improve strength and balance, if done regularly.
Classes are usually offered 2-3 times a week in a one hour class. SAIL exercises can be done standing or sitting.
