Behavioral Health Services offered by Nisqually Tribal Substance Abuse & Prevention Program

Provides individual and family counseling services for members of any federally recognized tribe.

Programs that provide emotional support, information and guidance to help people resolve whatever personal or interpersonal difficulties they are experiencing. The counselor can address any issue that is troubling the individual, but does not specialize in the treatment of any particular problem area.

General Counseling Services

Programs that offer alternative treatments that are based on Native American tribal traditions about health and illness. Traditional healing is holistic in nature, comes from the tribe's beliefs about how individuals fit in the web of life, generally focuses on restoring harmony and connectedness to universal powers and may involve sweat lodges, talking circles, ceremonial smoking of tobacco, shamans, herbalism, animal spirits, or "vision quests". Each tribe uses its own techniques. The techniques by themselves are not "traditional healing". They are only steps towards becoming whole, balanced and connected.

Native American Traditional Healing

Offers workshop programs focused on addressing and healing personal and collective trauma for Native women and men. 
Topics include trust, anger, domestic violence, chemical dependency, and self-advocacy. 
Each program is tailored to the participants and their individual needs. 
Workshops typically include a sweat or talking circle component which feature traditional healing practices and educational therapy.

Cultural Services offered at Mother Nation

Offers 22 workshop programs focused on addressing and healing personal and collective trauma for Native women. Topics include trust, anger, domestic violence, chemical dependency, and self-advocacy.

Mutual support groups whose members are people who have any type of behavioral addiction or a substance use disorder involving alcohol or other drugs. The groups meet in-person, by telephone or via the Internet; provide emotional support, information and resources to help those who participate modify their behavior; and may include faith-based and secular 12-step groups as well as non-12 step groups.

General Addictions/Substance Use Disorder Support Groups

Mutual support groups whose members are individuals who have been involved in physical or emotional abuse by a spouse or other partner. The groups meet in-person, by telephone or via the Internet; provide emotional support, information and resources for those who participate; and may be structured for victims of domestic violence, those responsible for battering them, or for adults or adolescents who as children were traumatized by witnessing violence in their homes.

Domestic Violence Support Groups

Programs administered by the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs or state or local entities that provide financial assistance and a variety of social services to meet the basic needs of eligible American Indians living on or near reservations or in other urban or rural settings.
