The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a program to help low-income, unemployed individuals 55 and older find work. SCSEP matches eligible older adults with part-time training assignments at non-profits or government agencies. Participants build skills and self-confidence, while earning a modest income with a goal of transitioning seniors into non-subsidized employment. Administered by the U.S. Dept. of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration, it’s the nation’s oldest employment program for seniors. Individuals accepted into the program are assigned job training placements at Host Agencies in the community (usually a community based non-profit service organization) based on the individual’s preference and employment goals developed from their IEP (Individual Employment Plan). Participants enrolled in the program are eligible to enroll and complete the Career Readiness Education and Development (CRED) and other Goodwill and/or programs as a partner with the local Work-Force Development Council(s).

Lists job openings within the community. Offers workshops on how to write a resume, complete a job application, improve interview skills and job search strategies. Provides information to job seekers about current information on the job market, Unemployment Insurance and provides career guidance. Also offers special programs for veterans of the US armed forces, dislocated workers, and those workers the meet specific low income guidelines. These programs may include retraining opportunities. Helps those with disabilities remove barriers to employment, and helps job seekers learn how to overcome ex-offender issues.

Provides many services for workers including: - dealing with the loss of a job, - information on job skills and training courses, - how to start your own business, - information on education and training schools, and - help and information on how to plan a career. Provides Veteran Employment Services and Training and Employment Assistance. Also provides job seekers with information on: - job openings, - strategies for finding a job, and - preparing resumes. Operates a store where all items sold have been donated by generous members of the North Central Washington community, including both private and business donations. Also provides beneficial hands-on job training to residents, giving them the necessary skills, experience, and education they need to go on to other employment opportunities. Makes quality clothing available for individuals that are working towards self-sufficiency, including a new job, interview, or are new to the professional work force. This service is free to participants in local employment preparation programs and students in high school and secondary schools.

Offers possible funding and retraining assistance for students who: - are currently receiving or have received Unemployment Insurance in the last 48 months, OR - have separated from the military in the last 48 months or will separate in the next 12 months, OR - qualify as a displaced homemaker, OR - have recently closed a sole-proprietor business OR - are currently employed in Stop Gap employment OR - currently working in a position not in demand or need skills/training/credentials to remain employed.
