The Volunteer Chore Services program provides a variety of support services for low-income disabled adults and seniors aimed at allowing them to remain in their own homes as long as safely possible. Services are provided by volunteers, and may include a variety of tasks essential to independent living, including essential transportation, yardwork, laundry, and similar services (depending upon volunteer ability).

Seniors aged 55 and older, who are active and still driving, are matched with older seniors who no longer drive and need assistance with doctor's visits, shopping, and/or simply companionship. It is not home health nor housekeeping. The program enables older seniors living alone to stay in their homes longer, reduces loneliness, and fosters long-lasting friendships. Offers volunteer opportunities.

Offers an online volunteer center. Connects people who have an interest in volunteering with current volunteer opportunities in the community. Accessible 24 hours daily.

This agency offers a safe setting each weekday for supervised activities: Character & Leadership development, Education & Career Development; visual and Performing Arts; and Fitness and Recreation Programs.

Offers volunteer opportunities in various areas including shelter ministries (Bible studies with clients, tutoring, grading study materials, hair cutting, chapel participation, and driving men and women to essential appointments), administration (newsletter, special mailings, and events), meals (preparation and serving food, cooking, setting up dining room, washing dishes, cleaning up dining area after meals), miscellaneous (appointment schedulers for clinic, maintenance, sewing, Christmas gifts, and construction), warehouse (recycling, driving, testing and repair of major appliances and furniture).  Accepts electronic donations such as: computers, towers, laptops, monitors, and televisions. Will pick up donations on some cases.

Provides volunteers a chance to help others by providing non-emergency transportation and destination assistance for those with limited or no transportation options.

Designed to serve Spokane County residents 65+ years of age and/or persons living with disabilities, who otherwise would not qualify or be able to utilize public transportation options. For medical transportation to appointments or to pick up prescriptions. Schedule 48 hours in advance.

Offers gas assistance for volunteers who provide rides to seniors and individuals living with disabilities. This can include but is not limited to; family member already providing transportation for their loved ones, neighbors helping neighbors, or volunteers looking to help with transportation needs for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Volunteers are paid $0.67 a mile for transportation to a grocery store, food bank, pharmacy, or farmers market.

Volunteer opportunities are available in our Health Services location. From pet therapy, horticulture, gardening, transportation, entertainment, 1:1 resident engagements such as reading, playing cards, special event support and many other opportunities.

Provides emergency assistance on a case-by-case basis for rent, utilities, prescriptions, and gas for emergency medical appointments. Motel vouchers available on a limited basis (not during summer months) to families or for individuals leaving the hospital.

Travel to Medical Appointments - Give rides to medical appointments and necessary errands.  At least two weeks of notice is typically needed for local trips; and more advance notice is needed for out-of-county appointments.  Each person must be able to get in and out of vehicles with minimal assistance or be accompanied by a caregiver who can assist.  Loans of Medical Equipment - Lend wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, bath seats, commodes, hospital beds and other items free of charge to anyone who needs them.
