Eye Care and Glasses Prescriptions offered by Harborview Medical Center's Eye Clinic
Offers eye exams, emergency eye care, diagnosis and treatment of rare eye diseases, eye surgery and referral for low vision aids. Tests appropriate visual aids on patient. Operates a separate optical shop with eye exams, glasses and glasses repair.
Provides comprehensive eye care services:
- General eye examinations
- Prescriptions (although eyeglasses are not manufactured at this clinic)
- Emergency care
- Treatment of rare eye diseases
- Referral for low-vision aids such as special magnifiers and glasses
Provides comprehensive medical and surgical vision care services:
- Routine dilated eye exams
- Visual acuity
- Color vision
- Depth perception
- Management of ocular diseases
- Eye surgery.
Additionally, diagnostic testing is provided for visual field defects, glaucoma, and diabetes with ocular involvement.

Eye Care offered at EyeCare America
Provides referrals to free eye exams to adults, 65 and older, who have not had an exam in three years. Volunteer ophthalmologists accept Medicare and/or other insurance as payment in full. No fees for clients who are not covered.
Provides a referral to an ophthalmologist (medical eye doctor) for a medical eye exam to eligible adults nationwide at no out of pocket costs for the doctor fees.
Promotes annual, dilated eye exams.
People eligible for a referral through the program receive a comprehensive, medical eye exam and up to one year of care at no out-of-pocket cost for any disease diagnosed during the initial exam.

Offers services for the Low Vision Community in the Puget Sound region. Services include Low Vision Rehabilitation Services, Lighthouse Low Vision Clinic, and Lighthouse Low Vision Store.

Rehabilitation Services:
Instructors provide in home training on a variety of daily living tasks for people with low vision and blindness.
Tasks may include appliance use, medication management, telephone and smart phone use, and reading and writing.
Lighthouse Orientation and Mobility Instructors assist people in meeting their mobility and independent travel goals, such as traveling around their home and neighborhood and using bus or paratransit services.
Empowers people with low vision and blindness to be as independent as possible.
Lighthouse Low Vision Clinic:
Offers functional vision assessments by an optometrist who is specifically trained in mitigating the effects of vision loss and maximizing functional vision. Following the low vision exam, occupational therapists continue working with patients to train and ensure they are comfortable using the aids and techniques prescribed.

Offers low vision products that help people live as independently as possible.

The Lion's Club helps low income residents obtain eyeglasses, vision exams, and hearing aids. They can arrange for seeing eye dogs, coordinate with the NW Lions Foundation, and a local physician for organ donations. They can also provide information and referrals. Eligibility is determined on an individual basis. When funds are low, priority is given to youth. They also participate in a vast variety of projects important to their communities. These projects range from cleaning up local parks to providing supplies to victims of natural disasters.
