We are a volunteer powered organization, with hundreds of volunteers lending a hand to make our vision that “everyone deserves a decent place to live” possible. Volunteers contribute: -At the construction site. -At our Habitat Stores in West Olympia and Yelm. -In our administrative office in Olympia. South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer driven organization serving families and communities in Thurston County. Volunteers are at the heart of the important work we do! It doesn't just take a hammer to build a house- our biggest volunteer need is help at our Habitat Stores!

Sponsor volunteers can join their company and Rebuilding Together South Sound for National Rebuilding Day or one of our other Rebuild Days. Sponsorship companies get priority project placement. Community volunteers can join Rebuilding Together South Sound for our Fall Rebuilding Day the last Saturday in October or Veterans Day the second Saturday in November. Other opportunities may arise throughout the year. For more information, please email. Volunteers of any skill level are welcome. We are always looking for volunteers who work in the construction industry to support our repair programs – specifically general contractors, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, roofers, and HVAC technicians. We would also welcome volunteers to support some of our administrative work including scanning client files, helping with mailings, and other office tasks. The ideal candidate would be able to commit to a 4 hour time block, once per week, for at least 3 months. Please note - we do not have capacity to support time bound volunteer needs such as graduation requirements or court ordered volunteering.

Provides volunteer opportunities in the following areas: food bank, mobile dental bus, medical receptionist, minor home repair, yard work, chores, food deliver, medical transportation, crafts & game events for children, basic computer skills training, raising funds, meal preparation, making flyers for events.

Operates three thrift stores around Yakima supplying clothing and household items for low cost for clients in need at YUGM. All other donated items get sold to raise money to support the work on the Yakima Union Gospel Mission. These stores are designed to give a warm shopping experience with great deals for our community and convenient drop off locations for those wishing to donate their gently used items. Hosts member supported, nonprofit organizations who support library services in their community. Friends of the Library is a separate group, but works closely with the Library. Groups: - Advocate for, and increase public awareness of, library services, needs, and goals - Fund-raise through book sales and other activities, - Support library events and activities that promote learning, enjoyment, and community connection. New members are always encouraged. Contact the local library for more information. Offers volunteer opportunities in clerical positions and working with children.

Sells low-cost clothing, furniture, and household items, including new & used items such as toys, household appliances, dishes, pictures, books, CDs, furniture, and a men's section. Thrift store was established to help raise funds to build homes for families in need in Lake Chelan Valley. Donations and shopping ensures that the store continues to provide simple, decent, affordable housing. Volunteer opportunities include sales, pricing/sorting, display/decorating/cleaning, and maintenance.

Provides general hospital services including laboratory, cardiac exercise testing, surgery, nutritional education and counseling, an emergency department, and imaging, such as CT and x-rays. Agency assists adults in acquiring necessary basic skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing English to accomplish their goals and self-sufficiency. Provides training for volunteers who want to help other adults read and write (no previous teaching experience necessary). Provides training to tutor ESL (English as a Second Language). Tutor training workshops are twice a year, in the Spring and Fall.

Organizes several fundraising opportunities throughout the year. Funds raised supplement operating costs, but also provides an opportunity to network with other agencies/donors and update partners on the organization's activities. Includes a Silent Auction Night, and two Community Yard Sales (vendors welcome - call for pricing).

All purchases and donations at the thrift store help to support the meal program.  Donations of clothing, linens, small appliances and electronics, household items, books, movies, music, knick knacks, etc are accepted. Cannot accept mattresses or bed pillows.

Sells gently used furniture, housewares, antiques, and collectables. One hundred percent of the funds raised from the Habitat Store support Habitat's mission to build and repair homes and hope. New items arrive daily. The Habitat Store also helps volunteers gain basic employment experience. Volunteer opportunities include sales, pricing/sorting, display/decorating/cleaning, maintenance, and donation pick up/unloading.

Offers second-hand clothing, and some household items.

Offers hundreds of classes, programs, and activities each season, there's something for everyone to experience with Olympia Parks, Arts & Recreation. Offers classes for those looking to hone a skill, try something new, discover hidden talents, or meet health & wellness goals, there are options for every age and ability. Our fun and affordable classes and programs take place primarily at The Olympia Center, which is downtown near Percival Landing. The Olympia Center offers kitchens, a large event room, meeting rooms, free parking and amenities that are available for community members and organizations to rent for private events. Also offers volunteer opportunities for after school programs, camps, athletics/gym supervision, teen programs, arts and clerical work.

Accepts donations for time, money, and goods. Accepts donations for supplies including baby items, children's needs, gas vouchers, blankets, personal care items, emergency food, camping supplies, including tents, sleeping bags, etc. Does not accept furniture or large household items. All donations are accepted and will be dispersed among other local non-profits if we cannot find a need.

The United Way of Clallam County is the vehicle to help people give to our community. The mission is to strengthen the community by helping people to live safe, healthy, and productive lives. United Way works to advance the common good in a variety of ways; raising and distributing local donations; working with the community to provide leadership in meeting human service needs; and being a constructive voice for human service needs in Clallam County. Identifying and organizing coalitions related to Education, Income and Health. Volunteer opportunities available.  United Way does not provide direct referrals to individuals, but instead suggests individuals needing help speak to a resource and referral staff at the 211 call center by dialing 2-1-1.

Provides a central contact point for people looking for help with a variety of needs.  Love INC screens the callers to determine the needs and mobilizes local churches to help provide assistance. Services depend on the ministries available through the churches in the networks. Assistance may include services such as firewood, minor home repairs, children's clothing, etc. If there are requests for assistance that are not covered by any existing ministries, Love INC helps to develop gap ministries to help with unmet needs. Love INC also works collaboratively with local businesses, agencies and school districts to assist with the needs of our community.

Performs fund-raising activities to support agencies in the county who provide a wide variety of community services. The Serenity Thrift Store, located in Sequim, sells gently used items at reasonable prices. You can find a large assortment of furniture, clothes, jewelry, collectibles, antiques and household goods, as well as holiday gifts and unusual, hard-to-locate items. On occasion, items such as automobiles, RVs and special collectibles are available. Revenue from the Serenity Store funds Serenity House activities that are not fully funded by grants, such as the family shelter. This store has three departments: the main store, the furniture showcase, and the appliance center. Pick up of large item donations can only be facilitated for donations from Sequim at this time. Please call to arrange pick up if needed.

Offers opportunities for volunteers who want to help Kitsap County youth.  Varieties of opportunities are available from secretarial, board membership, running errands, sorting, packaging, and deliveries.

Dinner provided with a presentation by a local resource usually followed by an update on recent organizational activities. First month of the quarter on the third Wednesday.

Seeking volunteers who are doctors, nurses, office staff, and interpreters to help meet the medical needs of the community. Doctors include - MD, DO, NP, FNP, ARNP or PA. Nurses include - RN, LPN, MA or CNA. Other positions are available as well, visit the website for more information.

Provides volunteer opportunities in all departments. Potential opportunities in the Habitat store: organizing, pricing, processing donations. Construction site: all aspects of construction for a variety of skill levels. Administration office: greet clients, answer phones, process mail. Special events: minimum age requirements apply.

Connects volunteers with opportunities at nonprofit organizations that match their schedules and interests. Volunteers can do service once or participate in long-term projects with more than 400 different agencies.
