Volunteer offered at Habitat For Humanity South Puget Sound
Volunteers are the backbone of the organization and help build hope for deserving families in Thurston County. Provides several volunteer opportunities including: on the construction site, in the Habitat Stores, affiliate offices and more.
We are a volunteer powered organization, with hundreds of volunteers lending a hand to make our vision that “everyone deserves a decent place to live” possible.
Volunteers contribute:
-At the construction site.
-At our Habitat Stores in West Olympia and Yelm.
-In our administrative office in Olympia.
South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer driven organization serving families and communities in Thurston County.
Volunteers are at the heart of the important work we do! It doesn't just take a hammer to build a house- our biggest volunteer need is help at our Habitat Stores!

Volunteer Opportunities offered at Rebuilding Together South Sound
Volunteers can join Rebuilding Together South Sound for one of our Rebuild Projects, in our office for admin support, or other ways. See Program Information for more information.
Sponsor volunteers can join their company and Rebuilding Together South Sound for National Rebuilding Day or one of our other Rebuild Days. Sponsorship companies get priority project placement.
Community volunteers can join Rebuilding Together South Sound for our Fall Rebuilding Day the last Saturday in October or Veterans Day the second Saturday in November. Other opportunities may arise throughout the year. For more information, please email.
Volunteers of any skill level are welcome. We are always looking for volunteers who work in the construction industry to support our repair programs – specifically general contractors, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, roofers, and HVAC technicians.
We would also welcome volunteers to support some of our administrative work including scanning client files, helping with mailings, and other office tasks. The ideal candidate would be able to commit to a 4 hour time block, once per week, for at least 3 months.
Please note - we do not have capacity to support time bound volunteer needs such as graduation requirements or court ordered volunteering.

Thrift Store offered by Yakima Union Gospel Mission at The Olde Lighthouse Shoppe
Operates a retail thrift shoppe. Sells low-cost nearly-new and used clothing, household items, and books.
Operates three thrift stores around Yakima supplying clothing and household items for low cost for clients in need at YUGM. All other donated items get sold to raise money to support the work on the Yakima Union Gospel Mission. These stores are designed to give a warm shopping experience with great deals for our community and convenient drop off locations for those wishing to donate their gently used items.

Volunteer Tutor Program offered at Tacoma Area Literacy Council
Provides training for volunteers who want to help other adults read and write (no previous teaching experience necessary). Tutors are matched with adult learners to teach one-on-one.
Agency assists adults in acquiring necessary basic skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing English to accomplish their goals and self-sufficiency.

Serenity Thrift Stores offered by Serenity House of Clallam County - Serenity Thrift Store - Sequim
Helps support Serenity House programs dedicated to ending homelessness in Clallam County, by providing affordable, quality goods, thanks to volunteers and donations.
The Serenity Thrift Store, located in Sequim, sells gently used items at reasonable prices. You can find a large assortment of furniture, clothes, jewelry, collectibles, antiques and household goods, as well as holiday gifts and unusual, hard-to-locate items. On occasion, items such as automobiles, RVs and special collectibles are available. Revenue from the Serenity Store funds Serenity House activities that are not fully funded by grants, such as the family shelter. This store has three departments: the main store, the furniture showcase, and the appliance center. Pick up of large item donations can only be facilitated for donations from Sequim at this time. Please call to arrange pick up if needed.
