Since 1999, Gay City has promoted substance use prevention that supports the development and self-determination of LGBTQ+ youth. We serve as a King County Safe Place for youth, and connect youth to safe and health-focused resources they seek. Gay City also offers two youth engagement programs: Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and Youth Advocacy Media (YAM): YAC is a group of LGBTQ youth (ages 12-20) that supports the development and implementation of effective marijuana/vaping prevention strategies. YAM is a group of LGBTQ youth (ages 12-20) from across the Greater Seattle Area that raise awareness about LGBTQ+ concerns by promoting affirming prevention messages through various media channels.

Offers a youth development educational program that enables youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to become competent, caring, and contributing citizens of the world. Promotes hand-on learning, individual growth, and life skills development. Offers a youth development educational program that enables youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to become competent, caring and contributing citizens of the world.   These life skills include positive self-esteem, effective communication, teamwork, leadership, healthy life choices, problem solving and much more. Offers a wide variety of projects and activities, including workshops, conferences, camps, public presentations, fairs and community service projects.   There are many unique ways to connect with 4-H including clubs, after-school programs, special programs like ropes courses, as well as a research-based curriculum that is often used in local classrooms. Partners with community centers, schools, and local organizations that serve vulnerable communities have laid the groundwork for sustainable programs that meet these distinct needs.

We offer a diverse schedule of in-school and after-school programming designed to support the social and emotional development of our young participants, as well as their educational growth. From academic support to programming that strengthens positive identity and awareness, our programs help our youth reach their full potential. After-School is held throughout the school year.

Offers facilitation services to assist groups, businesses, and organizations address difficult issues and/or gather input on a community issue. Topics can range from land use issues, government agency public relations, internal conflicts, etc.

Coordinates a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.   Recruits students annually and conducts annual Academic Olympic competitions for students in 9th-12th grades in NAACP Branches throughout the country.   First place local winners then compete with youth from other cities at the National ACT-SO finals held during our National Convention. Includes 26 categories of competition such as sciences, arts and humanities.

Offers 4-H Club for youth in grades K-12; promotes hands-on learning, individual growth, and life skills development.  Offers project areas including: livestock, arts and crafts, food preparation and safety, clothing, photography, and gardening.

The Mockingbird Society's Youth Programs bring together youth and alumni of foster and kinship care from across Washington State to provide advocacy and leadership training, build connection and support for one another, and build young peoples' confidence and skills as changemakers in their communities. Youth Programs creates a quarterly publication called The Mockingbird Times, which includes poetry, writings, and personal stories accepted from young people across Washington state. Mockingbird provides stipends for participants, and Mockingbird Times contributors are paid for their work.

Offers young people opportunities to experience outdoor recreation and skill-building while combining such experiences with community leadership.  With skills gained, youth conduct community projects that address needs specific to the Asian and Pacific Islander communities, especially relating to environmental justice.   Outdoor activities include rock-climbing, hiking, snowshoeing, eagle watching and more.  Community projects fulfill high school community service requirements and identify young people as community leaders. Some work is paid and may lead to summer employment.

Provides an after-school program for East African refugee and immigrant students living in the Greater Seattle area. Services include: -  Tutoring and homework help -  Youth-led interest groups for increase community involvement -  Parent advocacy to involve and educate families -  Outreach to schools -  Tracking of student progress and grades -  Ongoing support and mentorship to youth -  Special workshops and educational events   Also offers a summer program to keep students engaged in learning.

Offers an arts-based, social justice program for youth and young adults.   Participants collaborate with mentor artists in 16-week long sessions, meeting two times a week to dialogue, create, and share a meal. At the end of each session, youth lead and produce community-based events and actions where they share their creativity, vision, and new abilities. Rather than penalizing youth for being late or missing a class, program focuses on using incentives like stipends, relationships with mentor artists, and content relevant to their lives to keep participants engaged.   Has an agreement with the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office allowing program enrollment to be used as mitigation in achieving positive court-case outcomes. Additional programming is offered through monthly gatherings and special projects guided by the program's Youth Leadership Board.   Participation on this board offers a way for youth to stay involved after program completion, access continued learning opportunities, and build on their leadership skills. Monthly Leadership Gatherings are held on Saturdays from February through November at venues throughout King County.
