Serenity House's Enhanced Congregate Shelter ensures homeless single adults have a safe place to sleep. Our services include: 3 meals daily, shower access, laundry, lockers, housing location/counseling, weekly onsite medical and behavioral health treatment, medical respite program, and limited transportation to and from downtown Port Angeles. The shelter can accommodate well behaved pets, emotional or service animals, and adult couples. Sobriety at entry is not required. Shelter in place is activated during "Blue Flag" extreme weather conditions.

Call 2-1-1 or text KITSAPSWS to 898211 to find out if the Kitsap County severe weather shelter is open. Those needing transportation to the closest shelter can call 360-373-3000 to arrange for a ride before 7 p.m.

Offers a place to stay warm during extreme cold or inclement weather, for those who are cold for any reason. Criteria for opening the shelters may vary. The shelters will open if it is expected to be 32 degrees or lower for four or more hours; if one inch of snow is expected; or if one inch of rain is expected between noon and 6am the next day. The determination is made by the Dept. of Emergency Management. Once activation is made AND proper staffing is available, the site will open. ###Procedures/Rules/Regulations are set by each site. Standards are, persons may arrive at the shelter when the shelter is activated. EMTs and Police can bring people to the shelter after it has been locked. If there are no guests in the shelter by 9pm the shelter will close for the night. All persons entering the shelter will be asked to sign in. Id is not required and there will not be a background check performed. All belongings will be checked in. No one will be looking at what you check, however if you elect to keep something on your person such as a weapon or contraband it would be cause for you to be asked to leave and may be turned over to law enforcement. You may keep things needed for the night like a teddy bear, book, or medications. What you do when you are not at the shelter is your choice, but while in the shelter there will be no use of drugs or alcohol and smoking will only be allowed outside in designated areas before 9pm. You are expected to follow the basic rules of conduct, no fighting or disturbing others while you are in the shelter and will be asked to leave if you do not follow shelter rules. Currently no arrangements have been made for pets and they will not be allowed in the shelter. Service and support animals will be allowed in with documentation. The shelter will be open at 6pm and no one will be allowed into the shelter after 9pm. If the caller requires admittance after 9am them must be escorted in by the police by calling 9-1-1. Everyone must be out of the shelter by 7am No food will be served at the shelter.

Provides emergency housing and meals for families with children or women who are pregnant. Clients are expected to attend case management sessions to set goals, receive housing/job/service information and referral, and to track progress toward goals. An excellent on site program for youth 6-17 provides positive role models, mentoring, and fun for children staying at the shelter. Also offers an on-site preschool. Each family has its own room. The Shelter is open 24 hours, so no one needs to leave the shelter during the daytime. Phones and computers are available for job/service search and setting appointments.
