Assists in need veterans and their families by providing financial cash grants. Grants are to be used for needs such as: food, rent, utilities, transportation, medical expenses, burial/cremation, home/appliance/auto repairs, and clothing.
Washington State law and the Kitsap County code have established the Veterans Assistance Fund as a steady source of tax dollars to be utilized for the needs of indigent veterans and their families. A portion of property tax collected in Kitsap County is earmarked for the VAF. The overall goal is to assist all veterans-in-the-need back into mainstream society by ensuring they understand all the programs available to them. STA will sell monthly passes to the company or organization at a discount of $4.00 per pass provided that the company or organization agrees to pass that savings on to the employees and offer an additional discount of not less than $4.00 per pass. If any employer has a minimum of 100 people who wish to participate in the program, and the employer will make passes available to all employees at no cost, then STA will sell passes to the employer at a 25 percent discount.
Provides fixed-route service on 44 routes to the cities of Airway Heights, Cheney, Liberty Lake, Medical Lake, Millwood, Spokane and Spokane Valley. These services include connections between downtown Spokane and Spokane International Airport, major shopping malls, area colleges and universities, and Fairchild Air Force Base. Service is offered 365 days a year, with special hours on Saturday and Sundays as well as holidays. Check individual route schedules for specific times.

Provides recipients of DSHS MCS assistance with toiletries, toothpaste, shampoo, laundry/dish soap, and bus passes. Financial assistance may include rent, utilities, and move-in assistance if funding is available.
Housing and Essential Needs (HEN) may provide non-cash housing and other assistance for recipients of DSHS Medical Care Services (MCS). Housing and Essential Needs Grant Funds Grant funds can only be used to support HEN eligible clients that qualify as homeless or at-risk of homelessness. Allowable financial assistance for housing may include monthly rent, overdue rent, security deposit, and service animal deposits. Utilities assistance is limited to electricity, natural gas, sewer, water, garbage, and utility deposits. Essential Needs Essential Needs assistance includes help with obtaining personal health and hygiene items (such as toothpaste, shampoo, toilet paper), cleaning supplies (such as laundry and dish soap), and bus passes. Assistance cannot be provided through gift cards, vouchers, or certificates. All HEN clients are eligible to receive essential needs assistance.
