Description of Program: Provides free nonperishable food, used children’s clothing, and diapers all based on availability. Provides information and referral to other basic needs resources. Offers assistance with health care enrollment, employment, education resources, and ORCA LIFT cards. It is a WorkSource Connections community site. Hosts occasional Community Resource event with items such as food, hygiene supplies, books, and resource tables staffed by various social service agencies.

Stand Downs are typically one- to three-day events during which VA staff and volunteers provide food, clothing and health screenings to homeless and at-risk Veterans. Veterans also receive referrals for health care, housing solutions, employment, substance use treatment, mental health counseling and other essential services.

Provides application assistance for VA benefits, such as disability compensation, pension, education, insurance, home loans, direct deposit information, burials, and vocational rehabilitation. Loan guarantee program serves Oregon and Southwest Washington. Screens for Take Charge program which covers sexual/reproductive health related services including birth control, emergency contraception, sterilization for both men and women, and education and supplies for contraceptives, natural family planning and abstinence.

Recruits and screens families interested in adopting children who are in the care and custody of the Department of Social and Health Services.   Places waiting children with interested, approved adoptive families and provides adoption planning, preparation and pre- and post- placement services to the adoptive child and family.   Assists families adopting special needs children by providing ongoing financial and medical benefits to qualified children based on state and federal regulations.   Enhanced services for Indian children are available at the Office of Indian Child Welfare.

Provides emergency drop-in support services for Native clients.   Services include the following:   - Advocacy/case management - Emergency clothing - Nursing services - Assessment and referral to drug and alcohol treatment - Cultural programming - Applications and questions regarding DSHS benefits, as well as BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) benefits. Also provides a place for clients to socialize, watch television, and participate in Native cultural activities. Offers Native arts and craft sessions weekly. Operates as a cooling center during weather advisories.
