Specialized services for employment are provided for those seeking employment that have difficulty finding employment due to disabilities. Includes job counseling as well as job training.

Tessera Community Employment Services works with local businesses to create job opportunities for customers with disabilities and helps them obtain/maintain employment or participate more fully in their local community. Services are offered in Jefferson, Kitsap, Clallam and Spokane counties.

WXP: The work experience program has been discontinued due to recent legislation impacting the funding of that particular program. Work training is still a service offering but it is through special conditions that it is offered. The program offers paid employment training, employment support and socialization opportunities for participating adults.  

Assists disabled individuals in obtaining and maintaining employment. A team of professionals work to match the skills and interests of job seekers with specific requirements. Local businesses offer participants the chance to perform job duties in a real work environment and assist with the skill evaluation process. Also partners with local school districts to provide an option for transition students to participate in work experiences at a variety of local businesses throughout the school year. Students gain valuable work skills to take forward, past graduation and into the working world.   Job seekers obtain and maintain employment through: -  Job Development and Placement, Retention and Intensive Training -  Job Search and Work Skills Training -  Career Counseling -  Job Coaching   Once a job seeker has obtained employment, on-the-job coaching, and support services, retention assistance may be available to help the employee learn their specific job duties and have a positive outcome for both the employee and employer.

The Arc of Grays Harbor provides assistance and consultation for students with disabilities transitioning from school to employment. Assistance includes: Pre Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), life skills education to prepare for employment, and assisting individuals and families in navigating the resources available for transition-age students.

Provides employment services to people with disabilities.   Employment services include  -  Work assessment -  Job development and placement -  Training -  On-going supports -  Customized employment -  On-site packaging and assembly work   Employment opportunities available at SKCAC and elsewhere in the community.

Provides job placement and employment training services for adults with disabilities. Referrals for adult services come from the Division of Developmental Disabilities, Division of Vocation Rehabilitation, Department of Services for the Blind, and community school districts.  AES provides a variety of employment services and strategies, designed to meet the goals, skills, and choice of the job seeker.  AES is certified by Washington State Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD); in addition AES is accredited through The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Provides employment opportunities for developmentally disabled individuals. Must be referred by the DSHS.

Offers paid job assessment and employment services in primary business solutions as a CRP with those enrolled in DVR.

Participants rotate through work centers which may include a variety of work that is performed sitting or standing. Participants gain information on attendance and punctuality, motivation, communication, getting along with others, ability to accept feedback, ability to take responsibility, work ethic, ability to retain instructions, work quality, productivity, and personal appearance. Participants will be connected to a mentor and counselor to assist them through the progression of their training. Participants are paid minimum wage while in training. Specialists will assist participants with job placement and continue follow-up for three months after training has ended.

Peninsula Services is a non-profit United Way funded agency that works to train and find employment for persons with disabilities.  Most participants are referred to our services by other organizations such as DVR, DDD or DSHS and most recently DSB, and there are no fees charged to the individual. Offers an array of comprehensive rehabilitative and supportive programs that are based on the belief that persons with disabilities grow and develop as do all persons; that persons with disabilities can work and want to work; and they should be provided with support that accentuates the individual's talents, choice, respect and dignity in pursuing life options. Training opportunities include All Shred document destruction with mobile shredding truck that can pick up throughout the county, Grounds Maintenance at sites throughout Naval Base Kitsap, and the agency-run Servmart Supply Stores in Bremerton and Oak Harbor, and training at other community sites as well.

Offers pre-employment day program where members work side-by-side with staff to develop work skills, self-confidence, strengths and talents. Technology and equipment is available for members to learn and work on. Provides a commercial kitchen where members prepare meals available to members and staff for a small fee. Members can also apply for employment in the community through the programs of HERO House NW. There are three different programs of employment including: -Transitional Employment Program (part-time, time-limited for members just entering or returning to paid employment; includes on-site support, training and coverage) -Supported Employment Program (time unlimited, paid positions in the community with on-site supports and training provided by HERO House NW. -Independent Employment Program (where members work in competitive positions independently of HERO House NW) and HERO House NW employment supports. HERO House NW Programs also provides an extensive social program where members join together for picnics, bingo, museum tours, festivals, sports and games.

Provides vocational rehabilitation services for veterans with a service-connected disability. Conducts evaluation to establish eligibility and entitlement. Educational and vocational counseling assists in selection of an educational or vocational goal. Develops vocational rehabilitation plan and provides for payment of training fees and counseling. Also offers placement and follow-up services.

Provides a variety of community support services to adults with mental illness and disabilities. Services include: - individual counseling, - case management, - family support, - psychiatric evaluation, - medication management, - advocacy, - life skills training, - crisis intervention, - employment support and - assessments for residential treatment if necessary. Also integrates mental health care with medical care. Offers treatment and outreach resources like the mobile health van. The mobile health van serves as a primary care office on wheels. Visits four Community Mental Health Centers in the South Sound. Provides services for things like: - acute and chronic medical illnesses - routine health screenings, - guidance from nurses and peer support specialists to help better manage medical conditions and treatments, - lab tests and medication management for patients actively enrolled in a therapy program.

Helps people who receive disability benefits return to work or work for the first time. Beneficiaries receive a ticket which they may use to obtain services and jobs from state vocational rehabilitation agencies or organizations that have been designated as Employment Networks by the program.   Once a beneficiary assigns his or her ticket to an Employment Network or vocational rehabilitation agency, the agency coordinates and provide appropriate services to help the beneficiary find and maintain employment such as -  Employment services -  Vocational rehabilitation services or   -  Other support services necessary to achieve a vocational (work) goal   Participants will continue to receive benefits until they begin earning wages or self-employment income above the applicable earnings limit for the Supplemental Security Income or Social Security Disability Insurance program. They will continue to receive health care coverage even after they are no longer eligible for financial benefits.   Social Security cannot perform a medical "Continuing Disability Review" to determine whether participants continue to have a disability while they are participating in the Ticket Program, including receiving services from the State Vocational Rehabilitation agency, and progressing towards their employment goals.   Those who have their benefits stop due to earnings and then can no longer work due to disability can request to have their benefits start again without having to complete a new application using a work incentive called Expedited Reinstatement. Participants will be eligible for Expedited Reinstatement for up to five years after they stop receiving benefits.   The program is voluntary, and there is no penalty for not participating.

Offers employment opportunities in aerospace fabrication and/or assembly. Vocational partnership with DSHS-DVR division program. Entry level pay rate averages $12 per hour.

Artisans is a non-profit agency providing services necessary for individual job development, employment support, and employment opportunities in the community for persons with disabilities.

Provides recreational, educational, and vocational opportunities for disabled adults with emphasis on developing individual interests, decision making, communication skills, self-confidence, establishing friendships and increasing skills for community integration. Multiple trips a week available to access community partners and events, as well as recreational activities with a group.
