Provides technical assistance, training, and funding to local Safe Kids coalitions in the state of Washington. Works to prevent unintentional injuries of children by addressing topics such as traffic safety, bike safety, sports safety, fire safety, fire, burn, and carbon monoxide safety, safe firearm storage, ATV and farm/ranch safety, and medication safety, and poison prevention.

Conducts annual fire and life safety inspections for the purpose of renewing tenant certificate of occupancy. These inspections serve to verify that the occupancy meets the minimum building and fire code requirements. Also works closely with the commercial building inspectors to conduct on-site inspections for commercial properties and fire systems installation.

Provides fire protection, emergency medical aid and rescue services. Also provides community education about fire safety and injury prevention. Blood pressure checkups are available at all stations daily, when firefighters are on site. Free "Hands Only CPR" classes are given upon request for service groups in the area served. Accepts newborn babies dropped off by the parent within 72 hours of birth. The parent will remain anonymous and not be prosecuted, but will be asked for medical history.

SVFD offers free Home Fire Safety Visits to residents in their service area. In as little as 30 minutes, they will evaluate current fire safety conditions in the home, including smoke alarms, fire hazards, carbon monoxide (CO) alarms, and more.

Operates "Youth Fire Prevention & Intervention," a program for families who:   -  Have a child who has played with fire -  Have a child who has deliberately set a fire -  Would like to teach their children about fire safety and the consequences of fire.   A fire department educator meets with individual families, discusses situations and makes recommendations for further education or counseling.

Adult and infant CPR classes are taught monthly and by request. A variety of public education programs on fire safety and emergency preparedness are offered for residents and businesses in the Bellevue area.

Provides emergency fire services. Areas served are: Crosby, Hintzville, Gilberton, Wildcat Lake, Kitsap Lake, Erlands Point, Tracyton, Seabeck, Silverdale, Lake Symington and Tahuya, Chico, E. Vancouver Fire Department provides fire and emergency medical response to the City of Vancouver. Fire station staff also provide information on fire prevention and blood pressure screenings.

Provides a free smoke alarm program that replaces or installs smoke alarms. Provides CPR and First Aid classes, Safe Sitter classes and more. Also provides child passenger safety checks.

Offers American Heart Association adult, infant and child CPR. AHA HeartSaver courses are held throughout the year. Students receive a two-year AHA CPR card.   HeartSaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (for example, OSHA), or other requirements. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. For many HeartSaver courses, students receive a course completion card that is valid for 2 years.   Also offers fall prevention for older adults, as well as fire prevention classes and information at Shoreline Senior Center.   The Children's Fire Safety Center hosts groups of 15 or fewer for one-hour educational and play sessions targeted at 3-5 year-olds. Programs focus on promoting fire and life safety for families. Outreach programs are offered to Scouts, playgroups, teachers, church groups or neighborhood associations. Presentation topics include: -  Fire safety at home -  Emergency preparation for families -  Fire and EMS operations -  Senior citizen safety and fall prevention,   -  Fire extinguisher basics -  First Aid

Offers a yearly campaign throughout the Northwest that installs free smoke alarms in homes that don't have them, and educates people about home fire safety.
