First Steps First Steps helps income-qualified pregnant women or new mothers connect to health care that includes nutrition-based services. Ensures mother and baby are healthy through pregnancy, childbirth and the first year of life by providing - Prenatal care - Medical, vision, and dental care - Delivery - Post pregnancy follow-up - One year of family planning services post pregnancy - One year of full medical for newborns

Serves those who are pregnant or have children under 1 yr old that receive medical insurance through the State of Washington. Provides professional in-home visits by a staff of licensed nurses, counselors, and dietitians for low income or at-risk pregnant women who are facing barriers to having a healthy pregnancy. Works with women during pregnancy and, depending on her needs, into her baby's first year of life. Each client is provided with one-on-one counseling and education, in her home or place of residence, to help her have a healthy pregnancy and take needed steps to prepare and provide for her family. Also assists with resources life skills classes, community events, vital needs (such as diapers, car seats/cribs and food), job training, and many other services and resources to help women succeed. Moms can also continue to attend events and gatherings, even after they are not currently in the program. May also provide information on Safe Sleep and access to cribs to those receiving services.

Provides IUDs, vasectomies, contraceptives, sexually transmitted disease screenings, pap smears, and reproductive health counseling. Pregnant patients get one-on-one support from a Certified Community Health Worker and Registered Nurse throughout their pregnancy. Also provides education on a healthy pregnancy, and helps arrange lab work, ultrasounds, and doctor visits. Postpartum services, including support with feeding your baby, breastfeeding and breast pump support/teaching, and mental health support as well as family planning services.

The Port Angeles Resource Center, fondly known as the Orville Campbell House, at First Step offers a safe place to find resources for your family. We have a free clothing and equipment closet, information and referrals, indoor and outdoor children’s play area, free diapers and formula, access to phones, computers, fax and copier, healthy snacks, free children’s books, and a Little Free Food Pantry and Fridge!

Other services provided include behavioral health evaluations, routine health exams, colorectal and prostate cancer detection, newborn/infant screenings, pediatric care, and extensive sports physicals. Additionally, provides care customized to the unique needs of older adults, including Medicare annual wellness visits.

Program designed to help pregnant women receive the medical and social services they may need. All pregnant women covered under Medicaid (WA Apple Health) are eligible for services. Offers a team that helps advise and support mothers through their pregnancy. Services are provided wherever convenient for participants whether that be in home, clinic or in the community. Offers family medicine pregnancy services including prenatal care and well child care. Family medicine providers are doctors, physician assistants and advanced registered nurse practitioners who provide care during and after the pregnancy, assist with delivery. Families can continue to see the same family medicine provider they saw during the pregnancy. Patients deliver at Swedish First Hill Birth Center.

Offers comprehensive OB care for pregnant women. Provides pre-delivery and delivery services, including regular physical exams, prenatal screening and referral, and self-care as well as post-partum follow-up.

Provides support and information to pregnant women who are also on or eligible for Apple Health (Medicaid). Nurses, social workers, and community health workers support expectant mothers before birth and for two months after the birth of the child. Services are all covered by Medicaid, and may include supports like: - prenatal and postpartum education groups - breastfeeding groups - Doula services - transportation assistance during the pregnancy - Hospital tours - Behavioral Health or Chemical Dependency Services - Dental Care and - enrolling in WIC. May also provide information on Safe Sleep and access to cribs. Depending on the needs on the needs of the family, they may also receive Infant Case Management which provides support and guidance until the baby is one-year old. Purpose of the program is to help women have a health pregnancy outcome.

Provides free assistance to those who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. Offers pregnancy testing, first trimester prenatal care, infant feeding support, well-woman care, and STI testing.
