Sponsor volunteers can join their company and Rebuilding Together South Sound for National Rebuilding Day or one of our other Rebuild Days. Sponsorship companies get priority project placement. Community volunteers can join Rebuilding Together South Sound for our Fall Rebuilding Day the last Saturday in October or Veterans Day the second Saturday in November. We are always looking for volunteers who work in the construction industry to support our repair programs – specifically general contractors, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, roofers, and HVAC technicians. We would also welcome volunteers to support some of our administrative work including scanning client files, helping with mailings, and other office tasks. The ideal candidate would be able to commit to a 4 hour time block, once per week, for at least 3 months. Please note - we do not have capacity to support time bound volunteer needs such as graduation requirements or court ordered volunteering.

Rebuilding Together offers home repairs and ADA modifications free of charge to qualified low income homeowners living in Thurston County. Qualified applicants must be disabled, military veterans, seniors (62+), or families with young children. Typical work includes: - installation of wheelchair ramps and grab bars, - hot water tank replacement, - stair and porch repair, - plumbing leak repair, - gutter and floor repair.

Offers volunteer opportunities in various areas including shelter ministries (Bible studies with clients, tutoring, grading study materials, hair cutting, chapel participation, and driving men and women to essential appointments), administration (newsletter, special mailings, and events), meals (preparation and serving food, cooking, setting up dining room, washing dishes, cleaning up dining area after meals), miscellaneous (appointment schedulers for clinic, maintenance, sewing, Christmas gifts, and construction), warehouse (recycling, driving, testing and repair of major appliances and furniture).  Accepts electronic donations such as: computers, towers, laptops, monitors, and televisions. Will pick up donations on some cases.

Accepts donations for time, money, and goods. Accepts donations for supplies including baby items, children's needs, gas vouchers, blankets, personal care items, emergency food, camping supplies, including tents, sleeping bags, etc. Does not accept furniture or large household items. All donations are accepted and will be dispersed among other local non-profits if we cannot find a need.

Offers construction trainings for things like mission trips, and wheelchair ramp building. Focus on building community through service. Classes can be a couple hours long to two days. Classes are held at different locations, and depend on donated space.

The Volunteer Chore Services program provides a variety of support services for low-income disabled adults and seniors aimed at allowing them to remain in their own homes as long as safely possible. Services are provided by volunteers, and may include a variety of tasks essential to independent living, including essential transportation, yardwork, laundry, and similar services (depending upon volunteer ability).

Offers free construction training. 7 Saturday classes. Participants learn the basic skills of construction while building a small structure for a community organization in need. Participants agree to give 50 hours back to their community in exchange for the free training. During the class, community organizations bring lunch to class to share what they do in the community and how participants could volunteer with them. Focus on building community through service.

Our goal is to end substandard housing. We accomplish this by building houses with donated funds and volunteer labor. We sell the homes at fair market value with an affordable mortgage to families who are qualified for the program and who have earned or completed their sweat equity. Principle payments are used to build more homes.  Our process starts and ends with families.  Our family selection committee works hard to select families that have a demonstrated need, ability to pay back the affordable mortgage, and a willingness to partner with Habitat and the community.  This search is perhaps the most important thing we do, and is rigorous and complete.  Once a family is selected, we have a family support committee that assists the family throughout the building process and the duration of the loan, which may be 30 years.  Our Building committee builds the house with input from the family. Donated materials and volunteer labor along with the low-interest loan make a quality house very affordable.

Assists qualifying families in building or repairing homes through a volunteer organization. The process includes a credit check and meeting income guidelines. An agreement is made to help build or repair the applicant's home as well as other Habitat homes.
