KCR provides free preschool programs for children (ages 0-5) from income-eligible families and for children with special needs. These programs provide a wide array of services for children and families, including safe and affordable child care at many locations. Health, nutrition and dental assistance is provided along with education and developmental screenings for children.   Program Hours: We offer full-day options with extended day childcare and part-day options without childcare. Hours vary by center.  Benefits: Early Head Start and Head Start provides children with activities to build school readiness skills.  The programs set the foundation for future academic success in literacy, math, the arts, science and social interactions. The Early Head Start and Head Start staff recognize that parents are the first and most important teachers of their children.  Programs are locally designed serving children with special needs and values diversity   Programs are comprehensive: Education: Children learn the skills and concepts they need to succeed in school. Services are the following: -  Urgent care: sore throats, urinary tract infections, bumps and bruises, and first aid scenarios like burns and strains. -  Chronic care: heart disease, diabetes, fibromyalgia, thyroid disease, depression, anxiety. -  Injection therapy: shoulder pain, achy knees surgery, sore back (Platelet Rick Plasma injections, prolotherapy, and prolozone). -  Wellness exams: well child, well women, and annual health exams.

Offers several programs to help with childhood development. Head Start/ECEAP Teaches children social, physical, emotional and pre academic skills to prepare them for the kindergarten experience. Meals and transportation may be provided. Free program for 3-4 year old children. For children under the age of 3, Early Head Start home visiting may be an option. Developmental Preschool Offers small classes where students with special needs receive specially designed instruction to meet their individual needs. Offers morning and afternoon classes. Child Find Offers screenings throughout the school year to help identify children aged 34 months to 5 years old who may need special services in order to experience success in school. Special services can include occupational, physical and/or speech therapies, or a specialized early childhood program. Screenings will not show conclusively that a child has special needs, but it will indicate if he or she may need further assessment.

Para-Transit is a wheelchair-accessable transportation service for individuals whose disability prevents them frim using the regular fixed route buses. This means that a person must be unable, because of disability, to get to or from the bus stop, get on or off a lift or ramp equipped bus, or successfully travel by bus or form the destination. Para-Transit is available to anyone in our community that is elderly or low income that can't afford transportation to medical, dental, or social service appointments.

A preschool program for children ages 3-5 that focuses on child development and kindergarten readiness. The program runs September through June, Tuesday through Friday, for four hours a day. Children enjoy activities based on a planned curriculum with individualized attention and lessons that meet their specific learning goals. Families are supported by advocates who help the family develop goals and connect them with resources.
